Gears of War 4 won't arrive for a while

Gears of War 4 way off, still being in the concept/prototype stage.

The news was revealed during a Black Tusk webcast, where project boss Rod Fergusson said, "It's only been 100 days, I can't go into a lot of depth about a lot of things. This isn't going to be the place where I announce the name of the next game and all these sorts of things. Obviously it's going to take some time to get to a point where we can do some stuff like that.

"We are in what we would call the concept/prototype stage, so again, we're really super early."

It seems likely then that we'll get a trailer at E3 2015, with a release likely hitting sometime in 2016.

Hope you Gears fans are happy to wait.

They did only just get the rights to it so makes a sense it could be a while.

This was fairly obvious. Doesn't look good for Xbox One that it's two biggest system seller franchises are so far away from release at this point though.

does sound it is a few years yet then i would have thought it might have arrived sooner but a few years to push the xbox power is always good

Its the same for sony though I dont see them bringing out any of their big franchises like Uncharted or God of War until about the same time next year. It doesn't make sense to bring the big games out too early.

Setting aside that Sony don't have anything to do with this matter, it's not really the same scenario as the PS4 isn't having trouble selling, so it isn't in need of any of the big gun IPs just yet. The Xbox One though? It's very much in need of incentives to convince people to buy it at this point in time.

Plenty of people haven't been convinced to buy either, and won't be till there's some decent games for them both.

Both of them have sold far more than there predecessors at this point so neither are doing bad granted that Sony are doing bloody well. Just in general though it makes sense not to push it the big sellers straight away for either console as if they wait a year or two until more people have bought them then they will get far more while convincing the undecided at the same time by something that should look far better than if they released straight away.

That's pretty good news. This gives them time to produce something good and not have to worry about making trailers just yet. Gears will arrive as a fresh looking game ready to curb stomp the opposition.

Who said is going to called gears of war 4? And why is that the title. If anything they will reboot it not make a new one after the third.
DARKST4R 7 months ago
I dont think they will reboot it. I would expect different characters though.

i hope its more dark like the first one, didnt really like GOW3 it was just going through the motions and the final boss was bad. I dont mind waiting if they make it really good

The campaign from 2 was my favourite but the multiplayer from the third was the best.

i only ever got around to playing the first one , must try to play the rest of them before this one arrives

@zombie, I agree the GOW2 campaign was my fav too

You could miss Judgement for the multiplayer though the campaign was quite fun.

hmmm prequel or sequel ?

I'm saying sequel with a new line of books.

That's an good thing its giving the developers more time to make an better game. But in opinion they should leave gears alone unless they go back in time when the war first begun. Since after 3 the war has ended & it should be left alone.
