Ubisoft's press conference kicked off with a fun trailer which included a Rabbid making himself comfortable, having a drink and doing a wee. The trailer also advised people to check their connection and turn off their mobile. Yeah we mean you. What a nice way to start a conference.
Anyway, now for the real news. First up was a rather stunning trailer for Far Cry 4 from Ubisoft Montreal. The trailer looked like in-game footage and was very nice indeed, there was even a monkey in the car, giving it a real hangover vibe, well at least before everyone got shot.
There was also a trademark bad guy who took his anger out on one of his minions. He didn't seem like the friendliest person in the world. Still, the game looks like it's shaping up very well indeed, so we'll take that.
It was also announced that there will be some major Far Cry 4 news today. Possibly at Sony's conference?
Just Dance 2015 was next to be talked about. It has a updated track list and it seems that it'll offer community features putting you in the game and allowing you to share you performances with others. Viewers can also rate your performance, which is nice.
Just Dance Now can be used with tablets, mobile etc. The controller is now your device and there is now no limit on the amount of people who can play. As long as you have a connected device you're in.
Next up was The Division and some new gameplay. The demo shown focuses on New York, showing the city being destroyed and becoming a shadow of its former self. Once we witness this, it's time for our hero to step in and start to put things back together again, although it turns out that it won't be that easy.
It'll be a while before we get a chance to help take back New York. But it looks like it'll be worth the wait.
The Crew was the next game up. Ubisoft's MMO racer brings car customisation and USA coast to coast driving. The new trailer focused on Miami to Los Angeles coast to coast driving and it looked very impressive indeed, be it on road or off. The trailer showed day/night cycles and online connectivity across the world.
Interestingly The Crew has two hour missions which take you from one area to another. Better make sure you have some time to spare. There is also a beta opening on July 23. You can register at TheCrew.com/Beta. The Crew arrives on November 11.
Assassin's Creed Unity was next. We saw a trailer during Microsoft's conference, however there was more to show here. The trailer started with a bird of prey flying through the Parisian streets, before we got a glimpse of the French Revolutionaries and our Assassin, who was accompanied by three other Assassin's. Four player co-op? You bet.
Some proper gameplay was also shown and it looks incredible. What else is great is that this particular demo focused on the single player, so it seems that even though you can play co-op, Ubisoft has not forgotten the core experience. It seems like there are plenty of side missions that you can play, in addition to focusing on the main tasks. The setting seems to suit the style of play well.
Assassin's Creed is coming October 28.
Next up it was time to Shape Up thanks to a brand new fitness game from Ubisoft. The new game is exclusive to Xbox One and it no doubt uses Kinect, which must disappoint Ubisoft a little since Microsoft basically removed it from the console. You can see more in the trailer below.
Valiant Hearts was the next game shown. Using the UbiArt engine it certainly looks a little different, almost cartoon like. Indeed based on the trailer it looks like this won could tug at your emotions.
So what else?
Well Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemont came onto the stage to show one more game which was a nice surprise. So what was it? Pre-Alpha footage of from the mutliplayer mode of Rainbow Six, in which you have to take out the other team before they kill the hostages, or your team. It certainly seemed to offer up some strategy to multiplayer as well as wrecking all of the surrounding environments. The full title is Rainbow Six: Siege.
So there we go. What do you think?
