Nintendo @ E3 - All the news

Nintendo Direct went live at 17.00pm tonight, revealing a whole load of new announcements, so let's round it up.

The trailer showed Mii's beating seven shades out of each other, before Iwata placed a Mario figure on the Wii U pad using NFC. At which point Reggie was done for.

It was then explained that using a Mii fighter lets anyone join the game. Mii fighters will come in three categories - brawlers, sword fighters and gunners and each type is treated as a separate fighter, each of which can choose from four special moves out of twelve options.

The 3DS was also mentioned and will be out this October.

Reggie explained that the toy shown on screen was the first in a new line of toys called "amiibo." Amiibo toys use near-field tech to appear in games and it's a two-way thing, so the data can change as you play. Amiibo play is also being prepared for other Nintendo games, including Mario Kart 8. Super Smash Bros will be the first game to support these toys.

Yoshi's Woolly World was next up, which looked very interesting. Yarn is used, which you can pull to solve puzzles and more. The game includes a two player mode, allowing them to eat and spit the other to solve puzzles or just be mean we guess. It's out 2015.

Captain Toad is getting his own game and it looks great. The footage shown saw him making his way through levels that go beyond the isometric stages from Super Mario 3D World and offer something more. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is out Holiday 2014.

Zelda was next. It looked pretty stunning, as you'd expect for an HD Wii U title. The game will offer a vast world to roam in and according to Nintendo, the puzzle solving starts as soon as the player decides where they want to go. You'll no longer need to follow a set path, though will still come up against powerful enemies. The art style looks incredible so we can't wait to see more.

Pokemon was next up as we saw footage of Ruby and Sapphire, both of which are out for 3DS later this year.

Bayonetta 2 was also shown and we even got to see some gameplay. Surprisingly the original game will be included, as will some custom Nintendo costumes. It's out this October - at last.

Hyrule Warriors was next which includes Zelda and Midna from Twilight Princess. The game will allow you to play with two players using the TV and Gamepad. It's another title which looks pretty interesting. Hyrule Warriors arrives September 26.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was next up. Showing how you can draw his path on the Gamepad using the stylus. He climbed, swam and even rolled around the screen like Sonic. We'll see this game in 2015.

Next  up is Blade, a Monolith Soft title known as Xenoblade Chronicles. It looked a bit frantic and action packed, which will no doubt please Japanese RPG fans.

The previously leaked Mario Maker was also shown, which as expected allows you to create your own Mario levels for others to play through. It looks really simple and easy to use, so it should appeal to a lot of people. You'll be able to share levels with others too, giving it a real social element. It's out 2015.

Splatoon was next, which is an 8 player, 4 vs 4 online action game. You basically have to splatter ink on the map, with those who cover the largest area winning the game. You'll be able to switch between a squid and person. The squid will be able to swim through its own ink, will getting stuck in others. The person can shoot ink, before then changing to a squid to move around.

Your character can even hide in ink and then jump up and ambush an opponent. It looks quite good fun and is out 2015.

A few more teasers as Nintendo showed off an anime, before eventually showing a new character for SSB - Lady Palutena.

Starfox also seemed to be teased at the end, although it was blurred out, although it has since been confirmed for a 2015 release on Wii U.

That's it. What did you think?

I always though the guy from Ruby and Sapphire had white hair, didn't realise it was a hat.

I saw the name 'Xenoblade Chronicles X' and thought that was the long rumoured HD up-port of Xenoblade Chronicles, but nope, that's what X is called now? Well, that's just needlessly confusing.

The new trailer for xenoblade didn't really do anything for me the others looked good but don't know just found this one not that interesting.

Holy shit... just watched that 'X' trailer and the visual downgrade from last year's announce trailer is stunning. Character models really look they could have walked off of Xenosaga on PS2.

Really disappointed in the fact X is a Xenoblade sequel

I was shocked to see X as Xenoblade too, I hope to see some good game play of it on the show floor. Also thinking Splatoon could be fun.

Zelda looked stunning shame it won't be out for a while. Hyrule warriors looks good and its out in September, so not too long to wait. Splatoon looked really cool.

Anyone else not able to place pre-orders for the newly announced games? I get a message up saying "Cannot be shipped to your country"??!

The other week I finally got a Wii U to join my Ps4. Must say I am very pleased with it - shame it gets so much negative remarks. After no show of the Last Guardian AGAIN I hoped Nintendo would come up with some great exclusives and they have. Glad I got one now - even more so with some of these titles on the way...
