Here's how Far Cry 4 co-op works

On PlayStation systems, Far Cry 4's co-op is available to people who don't own Far Cry 4.

So how does this work? Well, PS4 users without Far Cry 4 will be able to download a separate app that allows them to be invited into their friends' Far Cry 4 games.

According to Eurogamer it'll be a rather large app since it will contain all of the game's contents minus the story-based missions, however if you are desperate to test the game out then we are sure it's worth it.

Apparently the studio is tweaking co-op play to be more difficult than playing on your own, so you'll certainly need a friend to play it with. Co-op players will take control of Far Cry 3's Hurk, making this the first time a character has appeared in two Far Cry games.

Are you excited for Far Cry 4?

Such a fantastic sounding feature. Sony are also looking at incorporating it at a system level eventually it seems... meaning this could someday in the not-too-distant future be a standard fixture of every multiplayer game.

Sounds a lot like download play, which Nintendo have been doing for years.

An awesome feature, now I do not need to buy the PS4 version as well, and just get the Xbox ONE version. You could also do this on some handheld Nintendo games on link play, one person has cart and the other person does not need to.

On a few select handheld games Nintendo utilised a similar method (As did some PSP games too, even), yeah... limited though the options it offered usually were with that. Shame they never developed a network infrastructure capable enough to allow them to try it on a home console though... it's a feature that's likely to be very popular going forward on PS4.

Great idea, but a bit surprising as potentially could lead to less sales? (Unless the publisher are hoping the guest players will be so impressed they'll buy the games themselves after sampling multiplayer).

The feature is more niftier on a handheld because you may even have the game but it is at home. Also playing split screen on one handheld device is not possible. Even if I am impressed with the game I will not buy the PS4 version, as most my friends are on Xbox / PC, so they will lose sales where I am concerned, as I may have bought it on PS4 otherwise

I imagine it will get heavily abused SM.

This is a good idea, Ubisoft hoping it will lead to more sales with people who don't normally play Far Cry having a go. But will probably back fire, still good to play with mates who haven't got the game though.

I keep thinking there has to be some kind of catch, the idea does sound good though.

This is such an awesome idea. Not only can you convince your mates to buy the game but you can play co-op with practically all your mates. Far Cry 4 looks absolutely awesome, I hope that Ubisoft doesnt do a WatchDogs and downgrades it to heck.

I'm so happy games like this are taking on coop now, previous games lacked it in my opinion, GoW nailed the coop mode, hope these do too.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
