Destiny is PlayStation exclusive in Japan

Destiny is a PlayStation exclusive in Japan, Sony announced today.

With Xbox 360 sales very low and the Xbox One not releasing until September 4, it seems to have been decided that when Destiny releases in Japan on September 11 it'll only be on PlayStation.

Bungie is the developer of Destiny, making for a massive turn around since its most famous for the Xbox exclusive Halo series. is developing Destiny.

In the West, Destiny will be released on the Xbox 360, the Xbox One, the PS3, and the PS4, although the PlayStation versions do have exclusive content.

Destiny launches on September 9 in the UK.

Not that there are many of them in Japan.

Unsurprising I guess, but that is a serious vote of no confidence for Xbox One's Japanese launch from Activision of all people. Historically they've always been the first to fight Microsoft's corner.

From a commercial standpoint, it makes sense. Xbox just doesn't have the support in Japan. Although, I agree that Activision do typically make an effort where the system is concerned. Perhaps a wave of pragmatism is sweeping their offices?
