Pre-Order PlayStation TV from ShopTo

You can now pre-order PlayStation TV from ShopTo.

Released in Japan and Asian last November as PlayStation Vita TV, the system has since continuously evolved through software updates and content enhancements. Adopting the same chip sets and system software as the PlayStation Vita, PS TV has an ultra slim size - the smallest of any PlayStation platform that connects to a TV.

In response to the demands from users in Europe and the PAL region, SCEE will introduce the system under a new name and colour, and will deliver entertainment experiences only possible on PS TV.

The main features of the PS TV system are as follows:

- Play a selection of your favourite retail or downloadable PS Vita titles on your TV using PlayStation TV, thanks to the built in slot for Vita games and Memory Card Slot.

- PlayStation 4 remote play: As with PS Vita, PS TV supports PS4 remote play and Wireless Controller (DualShock 3 or DualShock 4). This will allow PS4 owners in the living room to continue playing a game on a PS TV system in their bedroom. You can also enjoy most of your PS4 games on PS TV as if you were playing it on your PS4 system.

- PlayStation Now: Once PlayStation Now is rolled out across the PAL region, PS TV users will be able to comfortably enjoy PlayStation 3 games via streaming. A vast line-up of software titles: PS TV offers a huge library of PS Vita, PSP and classic PS One titles. You'll be able to enjoy all of these titles using a Dualshock 3 or Dualshock 4 controller.

TV services such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and more are planned for the future but as far as we know will not be available at launch.

Given what Sony have said recently about their diminished first party support for Vita, it's an odd choice to bring this hardware over now. It is a cheaper means of playing the pretty solid range of games the console currently offers, of course, but that kind of statement doesn't inspire confidence in consumers as to the longevity of this tech.

I was actually tempted by this at that price, until Sony went and dropped support.

Quite tempting to pick this up, the amount of features it offers at the price can't be complained at all.

The fact it can't play so many Vita games renders this essentially useless as a homebound Vita. However, I do like the sound of being able to play my PSP games over HDMI and the PS4 streaming could be handy, so I might consider it later.

“ Erm all valid points but, as I am a Sony fan boy (not really...;) I have pre ordered it from here already. Now just waiting for the 64gb card or better to be released as well.

This item has so much room for potential. I can only hope it's done right and they reconsider having dropped the support for it. But the current listed features are still enough to tempt me!

I think Vita TV (sorry, Playstation TV ;D) offers a fair amount of potential. I think it would offer MORE potential if Sony hadn't effectively dropped AAA title development for the Vita. Having said that, being able to use the PS Now service and streaming one's PS4 to it...well, those features could definitely be handy, particularly in a larger household. I'm assuming it uses Sony's proprietary memory cards and not generic SD cards?

The only thing that will suffer on this is the Vita games, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush are just 2 games that don't work on the PS TV and there pretty solid titles.

I'm actually more interested in its non-game features as a potential rival to Now TV, Roku, Apple TV and Google Chromecast. The PS aspect would be a bonus. Weird, since the initial focus away from games when the Xbox One was launched is one of the things that put me off that console.
