Gara: PS4 stock still not meeting demand in Europe

Sony has said that it is losing sales in Europe, because it can't keep up with demand.

Speaking in a new interview with TrustedReviews, Fergal Gara, Managing Director of SCE UK told the site, “We haven’t yet caught up with the initial demand across Europe. We are still dealing with the day one market.”

Gara also added that Sony “are very close to being in a full supply situation, but not quite there yet.”

Asked whether Sony may have lost some sales due to demand, Gara replied by saying that this could be the case, although added, "There is no update on PS4 sales figures right now, but suffice to say it is still selling, and selling very well.”

It appears stock in the UK is just about where it should be, however other areas are still struggling.

“A good example at the moment would be Germany who had phenomenal sales figures last week, but they just haven’t had enough stock so far."

It seems though that once the stock situation is sorted, Gara is confident that people will spend their cash on PS4.

“We have spent a lot of time at E3 talking about the plan for Christmas and I think we’ve got enough exciting content to be able to rekindle that interest.

“Anyone who may have said ‘forget about it, I will leave it for a while’, I think we have enough of a story now to say to them that they should reassess.”

PS4 has been an amazing success story for Sony so far. Will it continue to be? What do you think?

I think Sony are talking some twaddle. Where I live and the area I work I often pop into places like GAME, Tesco's etc and have seen plenty of PS4 sitting on the shelves for quite a while now. Microsoft talked the same twaddle saying on Eurogamer recently that Kinect Less versions were flying out the door, again not the shops I visit, maybe I'm just lucky?

Sales are only going to increase further once more interesting exclusive games are released. Hopefully there will still be some in stock for me to get when Guilty Gear Xrd comes out!

Given the quality and popularity of the console, this isn't too surprising. Plus, stock shortages can often fuel even more fervour to acquire something: remember when the Nintendo Wii first came out? Someone offered £700 to have mine on the first Christmas of its release. In hindsight, I think I should probably have taken that offer lol
