The Last of Us Remastered hits 60FPS

The Last of Us Remastered will run at 60 frames per second. Speaking via twitter, Naughty Dog designer Kurt Margenau mentioned the PS4 port, claiming that the higher frame rate proves "transformative".

Bruce Straley also said via the social media site that he "had a dream in 60fps last night," before Creative director Neil Druckmann later replied: "what if I told you that was no dream?"

The Last of Us Remastered will release on August 1 in the UK and comes in both 1080p and now by the sounds of things, runs at 60FPS. Purchasing the game will also get you access to all of the previously release DLC.

I'm guessing 60fps is the new thing now. Well fair enough i suppose it's better for games.

I must confess, whilst game-makers shouldn't get utterly fixated on the 60FPS mark, I can't help but agree that it does make games look good, that fluidity is impressive. Just look at the remastered Tomb Raider :)

I've not notice it actually looking better as such i just feel it benefits my eyes because sometimes on lower fps games i tend to get headaches.

I haven't played loads of 60FPS games yet. Question though, didn't the Dreamcast use to have an option of selecting between 50HZ and 60HZ

Yeah, that was just the TVs refresh rate though, not the frames per second the console was pushing out :)

This is great news. I bet the final product will look stunning. Shame still got another month to wait for it to be released.

The base game was built around being 30fps though. Simply bumping the framerate won't necessarily be to the game's benefit. Hopefully there's been significant tweaking done with the mechanics to account for that though.

Was the original 30FPS or something? Anyway, I'm looking forward to giving this a try in the future.

It was capped at 30FPS but as I understand it rarely ran at that

ALL games should be running at 60fps now standard, and no tomb raider definitive edition did not run a 60fps.

on ps4 the framerate of tomb raider tended to hover between 45 and 60 fps, but never consistently 60, it only managed to hit it at certain points

Wow this will be absolutely glorious on PS4, 1080p & 60FPS... Naughty Dog pulling out that magic!

If Naughty Dog are pulling out magic I would hope the PS4 release would be uncapped 60FPS and 4K

they do seem t be talking about it like they have hit it as a constant

Nothing more annoying than dropping frames. 1-5 frames is fine but when a game is dropping over 10 we have a problem

"It was capped at 30FPS but as I understand it rarely ran at that" - It ran at 30fps the vast majority of the time as I recall. There were certainly a number of noticeable drops, yes, but those were the rarity. "and no tomb raider definitive edition did not run a 60fps." - Xbox One version didn't, PS4 version did.

XONE was locked at 45 so it didnt drop frames, and looked great for it. but 1080p and 60fps can't fix the let down this game was.

I agree Kevin, it rarely dropped below 30fps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yX9UJV58XY

The Xbone version of Tomb Raider did drop frames, not as much as the PS4 did but it did drop them non the less
