PS Vita selling out in the U.S

The PS Vita is apparently in such demand in the U.S that it is selling out.

"We're seeing healthy consumer demand for PS Vita globally, particularly in markets like Japan," a Sony rep has told Polygon.

"The U.S. launch of the slimmer and lighter PS Vita has generated strong interest among gamers, and we're working to replenish supply here to ensure continued momentum leading into the holidays."

The new, slimmer PS Vita was released bundled with Borderlands 2 on May 6 in North America for $199 and has been selling well since. The console is notably sold out in many online and retail shops, which can only be good news for Sony.

Perhaps if it continues to sell well then we'll see some new 1st party titles for it? Well it would be nice.

And yet AAA games aren't financially viable for the platform? You might want to think again, Sony.

Hopefully this means Tales of Hearts will be successful so we get Tales of Innocence

With no figures quoted and the bundle game being a port of an old game I'm thinking they just didn't have that much stock.

Its good news for the Vita. But it is a little too late now that Sony have practically admitted that there won't be an AAA first party titles anymore. I was hoping with people buying Vita's (maybe mainly as a PS4 accessory) that Sony might have released more games for it as it would have a bigger install base.

I honestly think sony might re think the games situation in the future, might be wrong but if the vita gets a boost in sales, sony might have a change of heart

Not sure what's going on as there's some other reports going around Apparently previously stores have been selling as little as 1-2 units per month so reduced the amount of stock or not bothered to restock as much. Others are saying because of PS TV coming up Sony have pulled back on restocking the Vita too.

Sounds about right, Sony understock then brag about selling out.

Just found out that Freedom Wars is not getting a retail version in Europe what the hell is Sony thinking!? Isn't that the most anticipated game coming out this year for the Vita?

I hope something similar doesn’t occur over here. I am in dire need of a Vita in time for the launch of Tales of Hearts in November. Plus, I really want to play Persona 4 Golden, Sword Art Online and a couple of other titles I can’t remember the names of.
