Thursday Chat: July 10

It's Thursday and yet another quiet week in the world of gaming.

Yesterday we managed to get eyes on with both Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus, although unfortunately we never actually got to test them out due to the demand. But for today's topic we want to talk about these anyway. We want to know what you think of Virtual Reality in gaming. Will it take off? Will the more dedicated gamers buy into it, while the more casual gamers let it pass them by?

What do you think?

Let's Chat!

Right now it's a fad, the tech is getting good enough for it to be doable, but it's far too expensive for it to be viable. Maybe in ten years it'll take off, not now though.

all depends on what price Sony release morpheus at, if its under 300 then I can imagine it will take off

It'd have to be a lot under £300, most people don't like having to spend that much on a console, let alone just a controller for it.

Price will play a major factor I think. Would like to try it but not something I would like to do all the time.

I am personally all for interactive gaming and VR. These headsets bring me a tiny bit closer to being fully immersed. I have tried Oculus Rift, though sadly it was a long time ago so it was an SD dev kit for Strike Suit Zero. The picture quality drew away from the immersion but it made me see the world entirely differently. Being upside down in space while shooting ships infront of me and I look around to see if I'm being flanked made it more real. It was a great experience and I can't wait to try something more up to date.

I'm calling Morpheus at £250. Alien Isolation would be a perfect game for it - did I mention that I'm going to EGX in London. So I will get to try Alien, and hopefully Morpheus

Personally I think it's a fad just like the 3d gaming a few years ago. I would still like to give it a try though.

little off topic, my kids are both getting a vita each at the endo this month, I have a ps plus account, can i get the free games for them but still have them signed into thier own accounts or do i have to sign myself in on both and have them play logged in as me, , , , , suggestions

Think it might be best having them both logged in as you not sure it will work the other way. As you can only have the vita set to one account at a time,. I was looking the other day and Game had a few decent bundles at the time.
