All Xbox One's will still be dev kits one day, despite reports saying otherwise

When Microsoft first revealed the Xbox One, it said that all Xbox One consoles would one day be developer kits, allowing anyone with an interest in making games the ability to do so.

Yesterday it was reported that Microsoft has done yet another u-turn, with Xbox Advanced Technology Group head, Martin Fuller saying there were "no plans" for the feature.

It seems though that these reports where wrong, as Microsoft later issued a statement saying, "The comments today were inaccurate. We remain committed to ensuring the best possible solutions for developers and hobbyists to create games for Xbox One. We will share more details at a later date."

So if you do see reports of another u-turn, you have our permission to ignore them as it turns out there is nothing to see here.

They have been completely silent on this matter for about a year now though, and the priorities with regard to Xbox One's functionality have changed dramatically since that time. It's certainly possible that their current desperation to free up system resources to combat all the bad PR about sub-par versions of games on their console have made this feature something that is no longer feasible, but I guess time will tell... assuming they don't just string everyone along for the remainder of the generation on the matter obviously.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
