Life is Strange announced by Square

DontNod Entertainment and Square Enix are to release a new episodic title for PS4, Xbox One and PC named Life is Strange.

Dontnod Entertainment is best known as the developer of Remember Me and it's learned from this title to bring, Life is Strange, which it describes as a compelling, story-driven experience where choice and consequence play a key role in how the narrative unfolds.

The main twist is that the protagonist has the ability to rewind time, which will not only allow the player to affect the game’s narrative, but also change the course of history itself.

Dontnod Entertainment creative director Jean-Max Moris said of today’s announcement:

“Everybody at Dontnod is excited to be working on such a refreshing title. We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity”.

“When we first saw Life is Strange we immediately realised that Dontnod have created a unique experience, something special," added Square Enix’s Jon Brooke. "Everyone who’s seen the game has instantly fallen in love with its distinctive style and mood."

You can see the first screens for Life is Strange below.

'The main twist is that the protagonist has the ability to rewind time, which will not only allow the player to affect the game’s narrative, but also change the course of history itself.' - Pretentious much?

So it is a bigger better version of those alter history tidbits from Remember Me?

Rewinding time, something new? PMSL

Yep, bet you're used to it already. They're not afraid creating new IPs unlike majority of industry...

Yes, I am used to it now, how long ago were Blinx and Sands of Time? Over a decade at least, god knows how many games have done it since. And creating a new IP is a laudable thing, but they're being pretentious gits about it.

Think you're reading a bit too much in to it to consider it pretentious. They're just hyping up their statement like every game does.

The 'change the course of history' bit is where they went too far, they can't actually time travel in real life.

It is talking about how they won't just change the narative of the game, but will also change the course of history, in the game.

That's not what they said.

That is what they said. If you want to think they said that they've said you can change the past and even stop Hitler, then be my guest.

That's a little specific, but no, they said it'll change history itself, history can be changed by something revolutionary or innovative in the present, this isn't it though.
