Evolve wins big at gamescom

The best titles of gamescom, as voted for by a jury comprising of international media, social media companies and gaming communities, as well as entertainment personalities and nine specially chosen members of the public have been revealed.

So what was the big winner? Evolve of course. 2K and Turtle Rock Studio's title picked up five awards including the Best of Gamescom Award.

"We are blown away by the positive reception for Evolve from both the critics and the consumers here at Gamescom," said Phil Robb, co-founder and creative director at Turtle Rock Studios. "Winning the 'Best of Show' award at both E3 and Gamescom in the same year is humbling and exhilarating."

Other titles which were well received include LitteBigPlanet 3, The Evil Within and PES 2015 (which pipped FIFA 15 to best sports title). Oculus Rift DK2 was named best hardware.

Have not heard good things about the Alpha of Evolve. Nive to see LBP3 take multiple awards though, it's looking very nice.

Technically speaking multiple means more than two.

Funny, because the OED defines it as having or involving several parts, elements, or members: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/multiple and defines several as more than two but not many: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/several and I think you'll find the OED the definitive source.

From what I've heard from people there excitement has came down after playing Evolve and the further the game has gone on. I'll still give a try when it's cheaper though. Was happy with what I played in L4D and this seems better. @ John - It winning the award means nothing. It's been in FIFA's shadow for years for a reason, and it isn't licensing.

I reckon the fact that it had mixed reviews is pretty much the reason it got delayed, which is a good thing we have Alphas. Yeah and apparently Risen 3 was the best RPG? Was the Witcher not there. Also like noted above a non simulation game winning best simulation, and the best console game for PS4 and Xbox one were both multi platform games so why is one better on the other console surely they will play the same on each.

Not necessarily, there have been plenty of multiplatform games on both already where the Xbox One version has been inferior to a degree where it affects gameplay (Poorer framerates, sometimes to a massive degree like Tomb Raider, Battlefield 4). Just because they are released on both platforms does not mean they will offer an identical experience on both.

@Zombie - Yeah Witcher was there but that and Dragon Age, plus some others, were not allowed to be nominated for the category due to being nominated at the 2013 Gamescom, which is just stupid.

Haven't played Tomb Raider on Xbox one however on Battlefield I have not had any frame rate issues that have affected gameplay. When you look at the most recent games out or coming out they are pretty much on par with each other with the likes of Destiny and Diablo running the same on each with the latter apparently having a few issues on the PS4 though thats apparently just a bug.

Yeah that doesn't make sense just because they got a nomination the year before they are excluded.
