Watch Dogs will be last 'mature' Ubisoft title for Wii U

Ubisoft will not be releasing mature titles on Wii U once Watch Dogs is released, because owners of the console would rather have Just Dance.

Speaking with Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said Nintendo customers “don’t buy Assassin’s Creed” in very large numbers.

“It’s very simple: what we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers,” he said.

Wii U titles only made up 3% of sales during the firm’s fiscal year 2014, so Ubisoft will instead concentrate on titles such as Just Dance, which Wii U owners are more “interested in.”

Watch Dogs was still coming to Wii U, but will be “the only mature game [Ubisoft] publish on it.”

Shame they dont state when Watchdogs is actually coming out on the Wii U seeing as it has been out 3 months for everything else.
Bindiana 4 months ago
They can keep their crappy Just Dance too, we don't want that either.
Gloria 4 months ago
wouldn't surprise me if just dance was there best selling franchise on ii-u considering the sort of crowd the wii u attracts
JoeToots 4 months ago
Everyone I know with a Wii had Just Dance. Guessing quite a few of the Wii U users will have it too. They're right to do this though. Wii U just doesn't have the audience for these type of games. Can't see Bayonetta doing great here really.

Whyte I'd run before the inevitable attack off of Gloria comes
JoeToots 4 months ago
Just Dance, lol. 3% of sales is pretty terrible, so that's fair enough. Bayonetta might do okay. Mainly because it's an exclusive. If it's a choice between the other consoles and PC over the Wii U, it'll be an easy decision for most.
NathanW18 4 months ago
Most people don't use the Wii U as their main platfom and they just get AC or whatever 3rd party game on the main one. Bayoneta2 is only on the Wii U so it will sell better than any Ubi game could ever sell (Still won't set the world alight)
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
Anyhoo, less mature titles is fine if we get stuff like Rayman and the like
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
Considering Rayman sold 27% on the Wii U, they'll continue to put those types on it.
DynamiteWhyte 4 months ago
I take it Valiant Hearts was a "Mature" game. I'm still annoyed it wasn't released on Wii U

Since their launches and as of 9th Aug, wii u has sold 6.9M, xb1 5.1M, ps4 9.4M (although 10M on 12th Aug) The ps4 is selling about 2x as much as xb1, but for this year alone wii u sold 1.5M, xb1 has sold 2M, and ps4 5M, so that is 2.5x as much. The xb1 sales are slowing down. Once Starfox, Smash Bros, Zelda etc release the wii u sales should soar leaving xb1 in the dust. I bet Ubisoft are still releasing games on xb1 as microsoft pay them loads of money, whereas nintendo do not.
Autogamer 4 months ago
The Wii U had it's ever green brilliant Mario Kart title that sells consoles itself. XB1 hasn't got that yet. Wait till new FIFA, new COD, Halo MCC and that come out though and it will sell more than 500k more than Wii U.
DynamiteWhyte 4 months ago
And it doesn't matter about console sales. If the Wii U had 50m consoles sold compared to the XB1 selling 20m, Assassin's Creed would most probably still be outselling that on the XB1.

Even if the Wii U was the most successful console this generation no 3rd party would still go near it for one simple fact. People buy Nintendo platforms to play Nintendo games and Nintendo exclusives
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
The majority of multi-platform games that have ever released on Nintendo systems have been shitty ports
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
People only buy nintendo for their games because they have gotten used to them not having 3rd party titles. The gamecube was the best era, as a lot of good 3rd party titles came to that console. The gamecube was my first choice, then xbox then ps2 for multiplatform, or if the game had online modes I wanted to play then I would choose xbox first.
Autogamer 4 months ago
If the game is part of a series then I would prefer to buy it on the platform I have the rest of the series on
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
The people have gotten used to it argument is poor as how do they expect to ever get third party games if they won't support the 3rd party games? Ubisoft have done more for third party games on the Wii U and people still won't part witht ehir cash because they'd rather keep their Nintendo products for Nintendo exclusives.
DynamiteWhyte 4 months ago
Ubisofts 'support' of Wii U has been anything but good, their constantly gimped ports and delayed games perpetuate the myth that the Wii U version only gets the worst version of games if you can be bothered to wait for them.
Gloria 4 months ago
or games that utilize the Gamepad well
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
Ubisoft have provided third party support and done a good job, except that the Nintendo fanbase chose not to support them back.
DynamiteWhyte 4 months ago
Other than ZombiU I don't see anything else
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
It's easy to say Ubisoft have done a good job when you don't own a Wii U.
Gloria 4 months ago
Ouch. Kinda like how people who don't play games on PC say Games for Windows Live & Uplay are good services with no downsides
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
I don't know why owning something would suddenly mean you have deciding opinion? I can see EA Season Ticket wasn't for me after the 6 hour thing, without owning it. Saying Ubisoft supported the Wii U but the Wii U didn't support Ubisoft is pretty much a fact, outside of having Nintendo blinkers on.

line breaks-grrr. (i've used stars to try and make it more readable ******************************************************************************************* I agree with Dynamite - Ubisoft have done a great job so far. ******************************************************************************************* AC4 and Child of light didn't have the DLC but it wasn't dlc that was stripped from the game so you lost out - it was just a little extra - no nothing lost, nothing gained. ******************************************************************************************* Plus you can't say the ports weren't good - look at the same game on other platforms other than the ones they were designed for - AC 3 and 4 on PC for example - terrible optimisation. The Wii U versions only had Framerate drops in a few places (and in sea battles in 4) ******************************************************************************************* It sad to hear that no more adult themed games will be coming out from Ubisoft but thats why I got my PS4 in April. As long as they still bring out games OTHER than Just dance then that's fine, i'm surprised people still buy that - I thought it had died just like Rockband/Guitar hero (which i wished would come back to life) - Maybe bring out Rock Smith on the Wii U, that's not very technical, its a edutainment kinda title and you could stick on a load of DLC which companies love these days :) I would buy it - only have 2013 on PC ******************************************************************************************* Also, I completed Watchdogs on my PS4 2 days ago (100% all side missions and main missions) but I still have it on order at GAME for the Wii U because I want to see what it is like on the gamepad. If enough people buy it then it may change their view on more mature games - doubtful but you never know.
Turniplord 4 months ago
Depends what you call a good port I suppose, stripping features and DLC from the game automatically makes it a bad one as far as I'm concerned.
Gloria 4 months ago
as above, AC4 had no dlc (none was planned from the start though and they made this clear) and Child of light never got any but it was all cosmetic and 'Cheat' DLC - other than those - which other Ubisoft games had features stripped out and didn't get dlc which other platforms received?
Turniplord 4 months ago
Just look at the other companies - Activision with Transformers and COD - that is a good example of stripping the multiplayer from transformers and no DLC for either (except freefall). ****************************************************************************************** Or WB games with the Batman Origins fiasco (deciding they aren't going to give us the story DLC so refunded us all as well as stripping the multiplayer). ****************************************************************************************** Also don't forget 505 games with Sniper Elite which came out 12 months after all other version with no DLC and no multiplayer. ****************************************************************************************** Ubisoft seem to have been the best company (bar Nintendo) at releasing games and not leaving things out on the Wii U until now
Turniplord 4 months ago
Splinter Cell had offline co-op removed, and I never said Ubisoft were alone in their gimping. Square Enix and Capcom have supported Wii U better, it's about quality, not quantity.
Gloria 4 months ago
yeah but offline co-op was removed on both the pc and the Wii U. So the 2 consoles it was designed for (360 and ps3) got that feature and the others didn't. ****************************************************************************************** Square enix did a brilliant job with Deus ex - but they turned the exclusive for Wii U title into a 'Re-release on every platform' which may have resulted in more Nintendo sales if they had kept it exclusive. So I see that as a bad move - the Wii U version is defo the best with the gamepad, but most people overlooked it because it was on every platform under the sun and it was a lot cheaper on the other platforms due to it being a re-release. ****************************************************************************************** Capcom were good but now they seem to be just releasing old VC games like megaman. They are not bringing Street fighter over or any of their newer games. They aren't even doing a Monster hunter 4 on the Wii U this time round - 3DS only which is a bit crappy. I seriously can't see anything wrong with Pre-AC4 Ubi games on the Wii U though regarding ports (that only affect the Wii U) except that a few are crap but they were that bad on all platforms.
Turniplord 4 months ago
No one (not a lot) on PC plays offline multiplayer unless it is system link
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
You're missing the point though, it's not just the gimped ports, it's also the delays and all the crappy shovelware, not to mention cancelled games, whatever happened to Ghost Recon Online eh?
Gloria 4 months ago
you could say that about all platforms though and all publishers (except first parties). Ubisoft brought out more shovelware on the 360 and ps3 in the same period of the Wii U. At least they limited that and only brought out decent enough games.****************************************************************************************** GRO - they stated many times they were going to get the PC version done first and the game is free-2-play with over £450.00 of DLC on the PC - there is no free-2-play model with microtransactions on the Wii U so I doubt it would have ever come out. Plus they couldn't have brought out a model that had the dlc built in because they want people to pay on the PC.I would expect this to be on the PS4 of Xbox One as they have f2p titles there and have a system which will cater for microtransactions.****************************************************************************************** Regarding playing on the same pc - I know a lot of people who do it, I do it - I have my pc connected to my 51 inch 3DTV in the living room and I have 2 xbox 360 controllers wireless to it, so when I game, I game in there. If someone comes round and fancies a go of something which is on the PC, if its local co-op then we will do on the big TV. A lot of people are doing this also - plus the steam boxes are being developed because they can see more and more people use their PC on their TV in the living room and not stuck away in a corner or an office(room)****************************************************************************************** It just seems the above have something against Ubisoft as i've seen the same kind of comments on anything to do with them, its the same on the steam forums, and it gets very repetitive. They have released quite a few decent games (delays are usually because they have made the game for another platform and they are optimising it, if they released it day one and it wasn't optimised you would complain again so give them time to make it better) and a few crappy ones but at least they were still releasing for the Wii U. If you want to talk about shovelware, go and look at all the crap the 3DS gets and what the Wii was getting month after month. The Wii U has hardly any in comparison. ****************************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************************** On a side note - have you loaded up Black ops 2 on the Wii U recently? They have added Nuketown 2025 for free as a multiplayer online and offline map. They are also supposedly releasing another map for free soon as well. Maybe Activision are coming back to the Wii U?
Turniplord 4 months ago
I never did say people don't play Offline multiplayer on PC, the vest majority don't
Loli-Nox-Tan 4 months ago
and what do you base that on? the only reason a lot of people don't is because they can't, because the games don't allow it. If all games that had online co-op had offline as well you would see that a lot of people would use it - people would sometimes rather be with the person they are playing rather than simply talking through a headset. Obv actual multiplayer games are different but co-op is defo more fun with the person there

or beat-em-ups

Ubisoft gave the Wii U more of a chance than most did, for all the good it did them. I'm surprised Watchdogs wasn't just cancelled for it to be honest.
