Yoshida: PlayStation Move has a future with Virtual Reality

Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has said that if you are interested Project Morpheus then you probably shouldn't throw away your PlayStation Move.

While PlayStation Move and other motions devices seem to have fallen by the wayside, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida says it's future is only just beginning.

"Motion gaming was a big thing but, like with social games, dance games, music or guitar games, I don't think there's a lot of appetite for another motion game at this moment," he said in a chat with Pocket-lint.

"However, what we are realising ourselves is that PS Move was a bit ahead of its time - a precise and accurate 3D input device. We were very excited about the possibility of using 3D positional tracking to make games, but it's really hard to do so with a regular 2D screen," added Yoshida.

"So now we are realising that when we do Project Morpheus the one thing you want to do immediately is interact with an object in virtual space, and the one way to do that is that you need a 3D positioning input device, like PS Move."

Of course this means that the PS4 Camera will also get a new lease of life, although it seems a lot of people have chosen the option to pick it up already.

What do you think about the future of PS Move? We imagine that Yoshida is right, providing Project Morpheus takes off of course.
