Famitsu reveals Xbox One launch numbers for Japan

The first week sales for Xbox One in Japan are in, showing sales figures of 23,562 units for the four days after and including release.

Famitsu* revealed the figures for September 4 - 7, also showing that the best selling launch game was Titanfall with 22,416 units, followed by Kinect Sports Rivals in second place with 14,191 and Dead Rising 3 in third place with 7330 units sold.

Both Titanfall and Kinect Sports Rivals were bundled titles.

Microsoft's launch is a little lower in comparison to the launch of the Xbox 360, which managed to shift 62,135 units, while the original Xbox sold 123,000 units at launch.

Unfortunately the console market isn't really performing well in Japan at the moment. Sony had a decent start selling 322,000 units in two days at launch, however it's really struggled to make an impact since then, as has Wii U.

At least the handheld devices are still selling well.

Can Microsoft turn things around? That could very much depend on its performance at the Toyko Game Show later this month.

*Media Create's number tend to be different from Famitsu's, so when the Japanese charts are released later today there may be a slight difference in the consoles launch numbers.

Less than half counts as a little lower now?

Those figures dont make for good reading? Did Japan get Kinect console bundles? As not sure you can get Kinect bundles here anymore.A little surprised Titanfall is there best seller but not a lot Japanese oriented games for the one and Titanfall does have Mechs which the Japanese seem to love.

Titanfall was bundled, so guessing most went for that.

Awful even by the standards of other Xbox launches. PS4 and Wii U both sold 10-15 times that at launch.

I doubt TGS will save Microsoft in Japan since, their list only had 1 exclusive game that would appeal to Japan. Chaos Child/other .5pb titles may be the one to save it.
