UK Charts, w/e Sept 14: Destiny is biggest ever new IP

Destiny is the biggest new IP launch ever in the UK placing Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, the previous record holder, in to second place.

Destiny went on sale on Tuesday last week and immediately broke records. Unsurprisingly the PS4 version was the biggest seller, taking 46 per cent share of the sales, while the Xbox One took 36 per cent, Xbox 360 14 per cent and PS3 four per cent.

We hear that digital pre-orders for Destiny were also huge, something that's not taken into account in the figures above.

Another interesting fact is thatDestiny is the 16th biggest game launch in the UK of all time, with only the big hitters such as Grand Theft Auto, FIFA, Call of Duty and the Battlefield games selling more.

Elsewhere in this week's charts, The Sims 4 drops to second place, Watch Dogs hits third, Call of Duty: Ghosts lands in fourth spot and The Last of Us: Remastered takes fifth place.

PS4 version of Destiny alone pulled in some huge numbers for the week. Easily beat Titanfall's opening week for one relevant comparison. I can actually recall making that exact prediction back in February I think.
