Destiny was a system seller for PS4 and Sony

Destiny was a system seller for PS4 according to Sony.

Writing on the PS Blog, Sony revealed that hardware sales during launch week where at their highest since Christmas 2013!

"That’s a lot of PS4s," said Sony.

According to the publisher, PS4 players across North America collectively accumulating more than 11 million gameplay sessions. The game was also the most shared and most broadcasted PS4 game during its first week on sale.

There are no firm numbers, but it's still interesting to know that Sony's marketing spend made a difference to sales.

The only reason that 'Destiny' has done so well is down to it being the only real next-gen game out, it's not really next-gen, just a polished port! If Destiny was released in Oct/Nov this year, would it do as well? I doubt it...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that it's success has a lot more to do with it being Bungie's first game since going independent and it's huge marketing campaign than it does with... whatever confusing reasoning you're working from there.

Destiny was ported from "next-gen" to "past-gen", not other way around...

No matter what you think of Destiny, it is ridiculously fun. And even all these negative reviews are saying that they can't put it down. In November it would still crush a lot of the competition.
