Xbox One launch delayed in China *update*

Update: After being delayed yesterday, today Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will go on sale in China on September 29. Microsoft says it will be the first game console to launch in the mainland in 14 years.

There is still no word on when Sony and Nintendo plan to release their consoles in the region.

Original: Microsoft has delayed the launch of the Xbox One in China until later in 2014.

The console was to become the first of the new generation to launch in the region, however it seems it's not quite ready yet.

"Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China," Microsoft said in a statement.

"At Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first-rate gaming and entertainment experiences, and to allow us to deliver on that promise, we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One."

Microsoft China Xbox general manager Enwei Xie said customers who placed Xbox One pre-orders will receive an "added bonus" at launch.

When it does go on sale later this year, console bundles will begin at 3,699 RMB (£354/$599), while a Day One limited edition system will be priced at 4,299 RMB (£411/$697).

Game at launch will include Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year, Kinect Sports Rivals, Zoo Tycoon and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, with suggested retail prices ranging from 99 RMB (£9/$16) to 249 RMB (£24/$40).

We're not sure how these consoles will go down in China. But with the size of the population even a little dent in the market will make Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo a lot of money.

Pathetic. MS was totally unprepared for Feb'2013 Sony's revelation, played catch-up throughout year 2013 and they still not ready to deliver. Unbelievable.

I thought ps4 was already released in china, but apparently not. I must have been thinking of japan. MS probably would not have delayed the launch otherwise.
