Bungie discussing possibility of matchmaking support

Bungie is having internal discussions about the value of matchmaking in some of the game's tougher challenges, such as Raids.

“We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. You don’t need to sell us too hard on the value of Matchmaking at Bungie,” wrote Deej on the official site. “It’s something we helped to pioneer.

“Yet, we understand its limitations. In the recipe of a Bungie game, Matchmaking has always contributed the ingredient of a team built to play one match of competitive multiplayer. As you’ve probably witnessed in recent weeks (or years), many of those fresh allies have failed to go the distance together.

“The Raid was designed for solid teams of killers who have made a commitment to solve a dense and explosive riddle. Most of the raiding parties who have emerged victorious from the Vault of Glass have sworn that one weak link would have doomed their chain. There have been other stories, of course. We’ve heard tell of Guardians who met each other just outside the door that leads into that vault. Strange tales have reached our ears – tales of total strangers who have banded together to see the Raid all the way through to a triumphant finale.

“Those stories surprise us, but the players of our games always have. The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too.”

Would you like to see matchmaking support for some of Destiny's tougher challenges? Let us know.

Its about time they added matchmaking to the Raids. I get that some people would like to play with their clan or mates but sometimes its hard to organise a time slot between 6 people.

I can't see a problem with adding matchmaking to the weekly heroic and nightfall missions, but I won't be sorry if it isn't added to raids. Not that I have an abundance of top players to call up on so I can do the raid whenever I feel like it, but I think having matchmaking in raids will cause too many headaches. Bad players without the skill or ability to follow instructions and players without mics are a bad combination for the VoG. I've done the VoG and it wasn't that bad, but you only need one muppet to bring all your hard work crashing down.

I get that it's a pain getting put with morons via match making, but if they don't do it for the raids then I'll never get a chance to do them. None of my mates who own a ps4 play destiny and I honestly cannot be bothered to try and find complete strangers to add for a one off raid, that's assuming 5 strangers are all available when I am. I've reached a point now where I can't do any of the highest level strikes as there is no match making for them. I wouldn't be that bothered about not doing the raids if it wasn't for the fact apparently you can't reach the max lvl of 30 without the kit you get as a possible reward for completing the raids. I assume having the match making would not stop anyone from just doing the raid with their own fire team if they wanted., that way everyone's happy.
