The Official Nintendo Magazine will soon be no more

The Official Nintendo Magazine is being closed by Future.

Issue number 114 will go on sale on October 14th and it'll be the last one to hit shelves.

“Nintendo will continue to speak directly to fans via Nintendo Direct, our social media and online channels and public events,” a statement released by the platform holder confirmed.

“Nintendo UK and Future will continue to work closely on future projects across Gamesradar.com, CVG, Edge, Kotaku UK and Gamesmaster.”

The current plan for Future Publishing is to redeploy ONM staff to other projects.

“It was a joint decision,” Future explained. “Nintendo has decided to direct efforts toward other communication channels to communicate with fans, and Future is focusing on a core of existing sites with the recently launched Kotaku UK providing a great platform for our wealth of Nintendo experts from ONM and the wider Future network. Combined they will continue to deliver the Nintendo expertise our readers have come to expect in exciting new ways."

Future refused to comment on the futures of both Official PlayStation and Official Xbox Magazines, although we expect that both will be around for a while yet.

You'll find its through lack of sales. I stopped buying it about 2 years ago cause it was more a kids magazine... plus the sad shame with lack of support from developers not many games to read up on...I know the Wii u/3ds are more of a young/family console and handheld but the magazine was just targeted at younger readers who's parents probably thought better than spending a fiver on it for them... a shame for the magazine but no surprise really.

i don't know why anyone buys magazines any more, any information in them is out of date by the time they make it to print.

I know what you mean... the Internet has many more reviews and gameplay footage when you want to get up to date info.

Some people like to collect them (I used to) but more Directs are a good trade-off
