Futurlab announces 1 million downloads of Velocity 2X in Europe; prepares for next project

The brilliant studio known as Futurlab, which you may know as the developer of Velocity 2X, has announced that downloads of the game have passed 1 million in Europe alone.

What's better is that the developer is now planning work on its next game and due to this success is hiring new staff for it's next title, which we expect will be just as, if not more impressive.

"When we embarked on our first title for PSP Minis, the only advice we were given was that as a small team we were on the wrong platform, but I couldn’t accept that. By producing a stream of nine critically acclaimed games in the space of four years, this milestone shows that small teams with talent, ambition and commitment can build IP and successful businesses within the PlayStation ecosystem," said Managing Director James Marsden.

Kirsty Rigden, FuturLab's Operations Director added, “We’re absolutely delighted by the success of Velocity 2X, and now eager to get cracking on our next exciting project! We need two new team members to help; a network programmer and an experienced artist."

If you have some talent, perhaps you should check out www.futurlab.co.uk/jobs for more information. Who knows, maybe you'll be part of the next million seller.

It was on ps plus for a month so obv it's going to have over a million downloads, doesn't mean a million sales. If something is 'free' then you grab it. I got on my vita and ps4 but really didn't like it so I deleted it. I'm sure spelunky will have over a million this month too :) I wonder how many of the million were actually paid transactions though?

Doesn't really matter, seeing as Futurlab get paid for every download of the game on Plus. Good to see them doing well regardless, it's a great game.

Do they? Mustn't get a lot then. I guess having the dlc full price helps too as people who enjoyed it will go and buy the dlc.
