Latest Charts, w/e Oct 11: FIFA returns to the top

Alien Isolation debuted in second place in the charts this week as EA's FIFA 15 returned to the top.

It's a good start for Alien: Isolation and SEGA and the publisher will be hoping that these strong sales continue.

Warner will also be pleased as Shadow of Mordor only drops one place, sticking around at number three, while Forza Horizon 2 is the number four game, followed by PlayStation exclusive DriveClub, although the latter actually charted higher than individual versions of both Alien Isolation and Forza Horizon 2 in the individual format charts (as seen here).

It's worth noting that digital sales are not included in the chart below, so it doesn't really paint an accurate picture of overall sales for the week, rather only those at retail.

The rest of the top ten can be seen below.

Latest Charts, w/e Oct 11
  1. FIFA 15
  2. Alien: Isolation
  3. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
  4. Forza Horizon 2
  5. DriveClub
  6. Destiny
  7. Skylanders Trap Team
  8. NBA 2K15
  9. Smash Bros. for 3DS
  10. Minecraft: PlayStation Edition

As soon as people realise how poor the new " intelligent" keepers actually are, scored 4 long range goals with a central defender etc, unless EA patch this quick, it wont be long before Fifa 15 finds itself fighting for relegation !! ( could have easily been 10/10 if the keepers were not so crap).

Seems as though Driveclub had a more successful debut than Forza on Xbox One, with the combined sales with the 360 being the only reason it managed to match it. That's certainly interesting to see.

Depends on your definition of successful, yours obviously accommodates woefully inadequate servers.

Just as yours includes poor sales (Literally the very opposite of being successful), amirite?

No, my definition of a successful game launch would be a fully working game at launch.

Oh, I didn't realise you considered Zelda Skyward Sword such a failure.

It's not my favourite Zelda, I've made no secret of that.

Tbh no one could have foreseen that game-breaking bug. Still no excuse but at least the patch was up soon after

Correct me if I'm wrong Gloria but this is an article regarding the Latest Charts so by definition it is regarding sales and nothing else. Also reading Prom's original comment back he's clearly speaking specifically about the game's success regarding sales

Unlike server demand for an online game that was being marketed as the next big thing, they really should have foreseen that.

What bug did Zelda have? Not played it just curious.

Oh please, how many huge games (GTAV, COD, many other popular online games) had serious server issues in the beginning... with those games they even knew they were going to be huge sellers and still they had problems... Bungie got it right(ish) by doing the closed alpha and open beta before releasing the full game(Destiny)...

Didn't Driveclub have an alpha and beta too?

The bug was to do with the order you do the mini quests while trying to find the Thunder Dragon. I can't remember the specifics so don't quote me

All games have an Pre-Alpha, Alpha, & Beta.

Exactly, they tested server load and still fucked it up.

I did say "open" beta... they had 3 million playing the Destiny open beta at one point so they got the chance to test their servers in a scenario which would resemble the size of the full release

They tested it internally, look at the problems people are having with Smash Bros multi-player

Driveclub and most other games don't have that and from my limited knowledge on programming there's no way you can predict exactly how something on that scale will react until you actually test it... then you work on tidying up the issues

" They tested it internally, look at the problems people are having with Smash Bros multi-player " - Oh? Have there been problems with the online in that? I've seen a few throwaway posts from people getting pissed off about it, but didn't really read into it any further.

Looks like Fora Horizon 2 did better than Driveclub, as this is FH2 2nd week in the charts and still higher than Driveclub, but the first week for Driveclub, especially considering that the PS4 has 2 or 3 times the userbase of Xbox ONE, plus the Xbox 360 version was sold out most places in release week. People were probably put off my the online problems, and the announcemenet of the delay of the PS+ version. I think Driveclub lost some sales to the (reason of the) PS+ delay, as may as well get it when problems are fixed, only those mainly interested in single player would bother getting it at launch still. Also FH2 probably lost some sales for driveclub, as I probably would have jumped on Driveclub myself (even with any server problems) if I did not spend my money on FH2 first, and I may get DC later within a few months, especially when servers should be fixed by then, so servers problems + busy with FH2 = no need for DC just yet.

Yea but Tony (and I'm not disputing that FH2 is probably the better game) you're completely forgetting that something like 90% of PS4 owners have PS Plus and the majority of those people who want the full game will buy the upgrade digitally as its something like £34.99 and been available to PS Plus subscribers since release(only the free ps plus edition on it's own has been delayed). Considering these charts don't take into account digital sales I think Driveclub has done pretty well to be just behind FH2

Looks like worldwide sales of Driveclub have been far ahead of Forza 2 on Xbone by all accounts. Unverified reports suggesting that DC has outsold Forza by 2:1 in fact. And Tony, the only reason Forza is listed higher than DC on this chart is because the Forza numbers are the Xbone and 360 versions combined.
