Sony aware of firmware 2.0 issues, working to resolve them 'asap'.

Sony has confirmed that it's working on the freezing issues that some users have having with the PS4's new Rest Mode.

Unfortunately some users are reporting that when using Rest Mode the system won't turn on again, although it's easily fixed by holding down the power button until the system powers down and then turning it on again.

In the meantime it's best just to power the system down completely.

We expect new firmware will arrive sometime this week to fix the issue, possibly even as soon as tomorrow.

Hopefully it gets sorted soon but took Sony long enough to respond to this, not good.

I had the console refuse to come out of rest mode even by holding the power button down. It was totally unresponsive and there was no other way to resurrect the machine than yanking the power cable out. Have just fully shut it down since then.

About time too. It would be nice too if Sony gave us feedback much quicker in future and put it somewhere that everyone with internet capability can access such as the official Playstation Blog rather than social media sites which a lot of people, myself included, don't use at all. Thanks.

@cheekymonkey The funny thing is, if you go to notifications on the PS4, there's an actual 'from Playstation' area reserved for messages direct from Playstation.

@squarewindow, yanking the power cable out? there's actually a little switch at the mains you could flick which does the same job without any yanking

The best solution is to hold down the power button for 20 seconds. This restarts the system.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
