Mario Kart 8 set for Amiibo support on November 13?

It seems that Mario kart 8 will be getting Amiibo support from November 13.

According to a web page that was only briefly live before being pulled again, Amiibo support will be introduced to the Wii U racer via an update on November 13.

The update apparently allows players to scan in Amiibo figurines to unlock that character's "racing suit" for use with their Mii character.

We're not exactly sure how this will work, but it's being suggested that for first time in the main console series, the likenesses of Kirby, Captain Falcon, Samus and Fox McCloud will be featured in playable form.

There is a new Nintendo Direct taking place later tonight, so its' likely that this will reveal all.

Depends on the game, this is the first we've heard of they're uses in anything other than Smash Bros where they can be used as virtual sparring partners to fight against or with in teams.

Nintendo have still yet to sell me on these figures. All the details are all a bit wishy washy. Think they should release announcement saying what figures will work with what games, so people can decide if its worth investing in them or not.

Personally I'm just buying them as ornaments to put on my shelves, their uses in games is just a bonus.
