I don't wish to be negative, but how many AAA games of the past X years have actually been badly-reviewed? I can only think of Resident Evil 6. This game was always going to average around 8-9, and yet it will offer nothing new. If you like this sort of thing you will probably enjoy it, if you don't, you won't. I'd like to see a distribution chart of all review scores handed out by publications for AAA games. I bet 95% of scores are between 8 and 10. Kind of makes the review scale worthless when the entirety of it isn't used, meaning something which scores 7/10 mean the equivalent of "don't bother with this". How many times do you see a game score 4 or 5/10? Almost never. And believe me, it's not that every game released these days is amazing.

To be honest that's why we don't score games, or one of the reasons. People should pay more attention to the words. But scores are important to some, hence the reason for us rounding them up.

Yes, I totally agree with that comment Joe. The only publication whose numerical scores I tend to take notice of are Edge magazine as 1. they actually know what makes a good game and aren't influenced by hype or big publishers and 2. they use a lot more of the scale than anyone else does.

I prefer reading the pros and cons of said reviews for games like what IGN and ShopTo do, its just so much more quicker then reading an essay of text.

I normally only read Joe reviews and I do that just because it's there in front of me. The only review I take note of is the review of myself once I have played it. If I would of listen to reviews I would of missed out on some games I have actually enjoyed..

This has been a 'shut up and take my money' game for me for a while, glad the review figures are high, but it's no surprise
