Smash Bros sells just under 500,000 units in three days in the U.S

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has become the fastest-selling game on Nintendo's console in the US.

The platform holder said on Tuesday that Smash Bros. Wii U sales topped 490,000 physical and digital units combined during the game's first three days of availability.

Super Smash Bros Wii U arrives this Friday in the UK and judging by our pre-order chart it's proving very popular and combined with the release of amiibo, seems to be helping to boost sales of the Wii U at the same time.

Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt said: "The Nintendo holiday is off to a great start, but there's a lot of work left to do and a few more surprises in store for our fans.

"With great deals coming on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and great content like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launching next week, Nintendo will offer shoppers the best combination of fun and value this holiday season.""With great deals coming on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and great content like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launching next week, Nintendo will offer shoppers the best combination of fun and value this holiday season."

Of course we need to wait for Captain Toad, which will be released in the UK on January 2, 2015. But we have plenty to keep us entertained until then, right?
