Club Nintendo to close

Nintendo is to close its loyalty programme, Club Nintendo.

A new programme will replace Club Nintendo and will launch later this year, although any Stars currently in your account will expire on September 30, 2015.

The full discontinuation schedule is below:

April 1st 2015

From this date, Nintendo will no longer include product registration cards with its packaged games, so such products cannot be registered in Club Nintendo. You may still find product registration cards in games that were in stock before this date.

April 20th 2015

Termination of the registration of digital products downloaded from Nintendo eShop. Digital products obtained from Nintendo eShop after this date will no longer appear in the My Registered Games & Systems page in Club Nintendo. In addition, surveys for download software titles will no longer be available

September 30th 2015

End of Club Nintendo programme. All Club Nintendo features, such as signing up as a new member, logging in as a registered member, earning Stars, and exchanging Stars for items from the Stars Catalogue will no longer be possible from this date.

When the new programme is announced, users who sign up during its launch period will get a free digital copy of Flipnote Studio 3D.

The new 3DS models will not come with registration cards.

Is this only for the PAL service or they're shutting down the service for the US too? Since my 3DS is US region

I still have about 4000 stars still to claim can never be bothered to fill out the surveys as it gets monotonous wonder if they will be adding anything new to the catalogue between now and September.

Better use up my stars sometime soon then, hopefully they'll have something decent added to the catalogue soon, don't really want golf balls or that MK8 T shirt they have now.

Thank Gawd, you never really got any good amount of stars for completing the surveys in the 1st place as it was anyway! Bit sad to see it go though, why not just have upped the stars you could get for completing the surveys to 500? It did make Nintendo stand out a bit from the herd and made it feel more like a whole gaming experience instead of just purchasing a title and slipping it into the disc drive and playing the title like a Z0mbie! If something else is coming to replace it maybe it also has to do with them announcing the successor to the Wii U at the same time during the Summer months 0_o; could that be it too o_0?!! Oh no, I don't feel like purchasing another console at the mo' o_0!

And actually my brand new Samsung H6400 LED screen only has 4 HDMI sockets as it is and they are all used up (XboxOne, PS4, Xbox360 & Wii U) + I wouldn't want to do away with one to make space for a new console! + I can't get rid of the Xbox360 even if I wanted to, as it's the Gen1 one, meaning it's so old I doubt I'd fetch more than a fiver£5 for it , if that even o_0 ^0^!!

Bye-the-bye, any news on whether the Wii U is getting a Dead or Alive iteration? Ridge Racer 3DS was the best in the Ridge racer series + Dead or Alive Dimensions is still the best version of that Nipponese brawler ^0^ ^0^!! Sales would be good, especially if Nintendo could secure that the game would get most of the characters' costumes/'Skins'; + I'm sure the Wii U could do the brawler justice if programmed well, look at Smash Bros.' visuals; easily, the best out there, even compared to Killer Instinct's XboxOne visuals o_0!!
