PS Vita features such as YouTube and Maps to be discontinued

Sony is discontinue a few PlayStation Vita features including YouTube, Maps and some parts of its 'Near' social networking app.

The changes will happen via a system update this March, although Sony says that gameplay won't be affected.

While the YouTube app won't be removed until April, Sony says that users can still access YouTube via the browser, so it's not a total loss.

Never understood the need for a you tube app on any platform. However, the vitas app is different because it won't let you stream videos, it automatically downloads anything you try to watch on the internet. Crap if you only have a small memory card but great if you like downloading films etc. to watch later/transfer to ps3 or computer. Hope they don't remove that capability when they remove the app.

I have a vita, and yes the support for the handheld has been declining and will likely to continue. Plenty of games for me to play though, Freedom wars, Persona 4, Danganronpa, Tearaway, Uncharted, Killzone, YS Memories of Celceta. Also the games on ps plus, crossbuy games - resogun, rogue legacy, guacamalee and hotline miami. Unfortunately I only know one vita game due out in the near future, and that is the steins gate game.
