Sonic Boom sold under 500,000 units since launch

SEGA's Sonic Boom sold just Sega's disappointing Sonic Boom games sold less than half a million copies worldwide, the company has confirmed.

The figure, which comes in at less than the 490,000 shipped, includes Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on 3DS.

It seems that Sonic may be due for retirement at this rate, after all he's never quite lived up to his reputation of late.

So what do you think, is it time for Sonic to retire?

Sega need to give Sonic to Nintendo, it's the only way there will ever be another good Sonic game.

It saddens me when i Think what sega used to be and what they are now, they have so many great IPs that they don't even use anymore. Sonic games used to almost be on par with mario games back in the megadrive days and now they can't get anywhere near that standard, just make a new streets of rage or ristar or shinobi or even finish that shenmue trilogy, or even a new space harrier or afterburner. I just wish they would do something decent with all those quality IPs, alien Isolation and football manager are the only decent games they put there name too these days after giving up publishing platinum games awesome games.

This calls for HD revamps of all the classics, plus a platform maker for sonic just like nintendo have done with mario. I love the originals back when my first console was bought for me one amazing xmas. the sega megadrive (which I still have to this day). I know a team are working on sonic 2 HD and the pictures I've seen are phenomenal! All they need is sega and funding to "speed" it up a notch. imagine building a sonic stage on your wii u and sending that blue sprite down the steepest of ramps into the biggest of jumps. Yes please SEGA.
