First Rock Band, now Guitar Hero. Is Rhythm Action making a comeback?

It's being reported this morning that a new Guitar Hero is being developed for release this year. This comes after it was reported last week that a new Rock Band game will also be released at some point in the future.

Kotaku has been told by two separate sources that Activision has a new Guitar Hero game in development, with one even going as far to say that it will be announced at E3 this year.

Apparently the latest Guitar Hero takes a "more realistic" approach than previous Guitar Hero games. Crowds and performers will look more in-line with real life and there will be a new guitar peripheral for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The last Guitar Hero game was released in in September 2010.

At this time Activision has declined to comment, as you would expect if it's planning to keep this under wraps until E3.

Interestingly, late last year there was a rumour of extras recording live crowd scenes for a new Guitar Hero in London, so this seems to match up to this latest news.

So would you like to see a return for these games?
