Disney Infinity 3.0 confirmed *update*

Update 2: Star Wars is coming to Disney Infinity this year with the release of Disney Infinity 3.0.

According to Game Informer, the game will arrive on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, iOS and Android this autumn and will come bundled with a new 'Twilight of the Republic' Play Set which tells the tale of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka in a story set after the events of Star Wars: Episode 2.

Figures sold separately include Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul, while a seperate 'Rise Against the Empire' Play Set, developed by Studio Gobo, will also be available to purchase separately. The latter follows the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, and includes the figures of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Darth Vader, Han Solo and Chewbacca will be available separately, with either set of figures compatible with both Play Sets.

A third Star Wars Play Set based on this year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens will also be available later this winter, while Play Sets based on Pixar movie Inside Out and the Marvel universe are also in development.

Sonic All-Stars Racing developer Sumo Digital meanwhile, has signed up to work with Avalanche on Disney Infinity 3's driving.

Characters such as Mulan, Olaf, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Tron Legacy's Sam Flynn and Quorra and more will also be sold separately to use within a brand new and updated Toy Box mode.

You can see some gameplay footage on Game Informer.

Update: The Disney Infinity 3.0 rumours continue with what appears to be a picture of a Star Wars starter set.

Original: The first set of characters coming to the, still unannounced, Disney Infinity 3.0 has reportedly been leaked.

Chinese retailer Tabobao was at the source of the leak and showed off characters such as classic Mickey, classic Minnie Mouse, Mulan, Olaf from Frozen, Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron and five characters from Pixar's upcoming Inside Out movie.

Whether rumours of these characters are true or not, Disney Infinity 3.0 hasn't been announced yet, but with Disney owning the rights to Star Wars and the movie coming out later this year, you can be sure that it'll have some sort of Star Wars theme running through it.

they sound more like 2.0 classic characters. Starwars will be v3.0 - got 9 v2.0 characters arriving today :)

seems strange - basing the figures on the clone wars animated series rather than the film - although the style does match the other disney infinity characters - so i see this as real :) Just when i've just bought all the 2.0 playset characters - now to save up for these!

I knew this was going to be happening. Chances are the clone wars will be the starter pack, and all the other stuff will be extra playsets and characters to purchase on top.

Shame you only get 2 characters with it as standard and only 1 playset. I'll be buying all the playset characters and playsets. havn't really bothered with any of the disney originals except the ginger girl and stich (this was because it was 25 quid on wii u so i got the characters and 2 'games' for my PS4 and a disk so I can also play all my playsets on my wii u where my original v1.0 is)

"Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits will feature three Star Wars Play sets: Twilight of the Republic set in the Episodes I-III timeline, Rise Against the Empire set during the original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI), and the third – available this winter – based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens" - joy - so 23 different playsets with 3 sets of characters - this will be the most expensive series i guess

I'm guessing that you won't be able to use these sets with the original Infinity or Infinity 2.0 software just so they can squeeze more money out of us.

@Wicksy - no, the 3.0 disc has all the content for all the 3.0 playsets, if its like 2.0 then you can put on your 1.0 and 2.0 playsets and characters to unlock playset items which is alright. I just waited until 2.0 came right down in price so i was pretty much paying the same as buying the 3 characters and getting the disc 'free' - no rush in buying these, they don't sell out like Amiibos
