Dice says Battlefront is not built around DLC

DICE’s new Battlefront is not built around DLC according to the game's producer.

While it is inevitable that we'll get paid DLC at some point following the game's release and after the arrival of the first free DLC, EA and Dice are keen to stamp out theories that a large chunk of the title will be missing from the disc.

“The amount of content in the game has absolutely zero to do with DLC. I can say that with all honesty,” said producer Jesper Nielsen on Reddit.

“…if you think there’s anything we’re not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you you’re 100% wrong. In this project, I’ve never heard anyone say ‘Let’s not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC instead’. Ever.”

He’s also re-iterated previous claims that Battlefront isn’t just Battlefield 4 with a Star Wars skin.

“Oh, trust me, this is not a Battlefield re-skin. It’s using the Frostbite engine, yes, but not a lot of the Battlefield code. Day 1 was not “hey, let’s copy BF4 and work from that”. It was more “hey, let’s make a new Frostbite game.

"As for the four planets; a lot of work has gone into making those four planets look and feel absolutely amazing. We’re setting some high bars here on what we want to achieve. You may disagree with that priority, but it’s really a quality vs quantity question.”

He also had a word to say about the maps.

“I cannot stress this enough; there will be more than 8 maps.”

So what do you think? Are you excited for Battlefront?

more than 8 - yeah - 9 according to his tweet the other day haha! 4 planets is a bit crappy, why not 16 unique maps or something - why planets? That means there is only going to be 4 terrain settings and styles. Pretty much like Destiny, without the free roam kinda single player mode. If they wanted to release the best game ever I would have liked them to have some kind of single player progression and spend time doing all the new 'paid for dlc' and including it free of charge - obvisously they have planned what is and isn't in launch for DLC, they are probably working on the DLC already
