Silent Hills game is cancelled

Quite a lot of people were excited for the new Silent Hills game and now, it appears that it's not going to happen.

Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro, who was working on the game with Hideo Kojima and The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus said as much at a San Fransisco Film Society event last night, reportedly commenting during a Q&A about Silent Hills that, "It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart."

In addition, in a statement sent to Kotaku, Konami said:

"Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

"In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements."

Norman Reedus also confirmed the project being cancelled on Twitter.

"Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone," Reedus wrote in a tweet.

Konami also announced that it will be removing the game's playable teaser, P.T., from the PlayStation Store on Wednesday, 29th April. So if you haven't got that one yet, go get it.

That's a shame, was one of the games that had me swayed towards PS4 for my next console.

Apart from PES what does Konami have now? Castlevania seems to have dried up and the Metal Gear fiasco seems they dont have much left.

The demo and the promise of the game no doubt sold more PS4s. If the PS4 was not doing well, or they had the money, Sony probably would have ensured this to happen. Maybe Microsoft will come and buy it up / re-establish a new contract with Norman Reedus? Other Silent Hill games will be made, just not this one, who features Norman Reedus whos contract with Konami has now expired. http://www.vg247.com/2015/04/27/silent-hills-reportedly-cancelled-pt-axed-from-psn-store/

Silent Hills is being saved. I called it (see my above comment)! MS are seriously looking to buy Silent Hills before E3. http://www.hellhorror.com/article/8846/Microsoft-to-Save-Silent-Hills-IP-From-Konami.html

MS are pretty desperate aren't they. 1 game wont sell a console. Plus if MS gets a hold of the game it will probably appear on PC (as all MS exclusives do in the end) which isn't a problem. plus, isn't it 1080p Silent hills? thought the Xbox cries when you try to run games in 1080p so they have to be downgraded? Will be good to see a digital foundry comparison if this happens
