The Witcher 3 has no loading screens on the main open world

The Witcher 3 is a huge game, however it the only loading screens you will encounter come if you fast travel.

Speaking to Gamespot CD Projekt RED’s Jonas Mattsson said that you can go through the game’s world without needing to fast travel and if you do so you'll never see a loading screen.

“On the full open world, there’s no loading time. You can travel and roam around as you wish.

“Only when you actually start the game, when you die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it’s a really short loading time,” he said.

“For us, that was really important. I think we achieved that because, as you said, just going in and out of a building, there’s no loading time. Nothing. It’s just creates this really nice experience.”

There are some smaller islands off the main map which may incur loading, however if you stick to the main open world you'll never see any. Pretty impressive.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out May 19 and you can pre-order below.

Cool that it's got a proper open world this time, my main problem with number 2 was it's linearity, once you left an area you just couldn't go back to it.
