Sigh another game launches with announcing DLC months before the game is even out. Would guess some people will wait till the GOTY edition is out to buy this now.

Yup. People must buy these as they keep doing them

Yeah people must be buying them as they keep making them. It is one practice that I wish would vanish altogether, this one seems ridiculously expensive as well.

The days when you bought a game as a complete package are gone. Clearly they know what the "total content" will be but no.... Hand over your 40 odd quid for half a game and we'll let you have the rest for another £32 !!! Not interested in the slightest. I know its business but for everything over £70 for what could be tacked on extra's !

To be fair for all this content to be included with the game would require the game to be delayed at least another 6 months

What's a complete game again?

Is'nt this what destiny did charge £40 plus just for some extra story missions and new weapons in the expansion pack yet many paid for it including people on here moaning , all games these days do the same ,the only game i can think that adds value is the witcher 3 pass that includes 30 plus hours extra content

Mario Kart 8 has some pretty awesome DLC that was decently priced

RRP prices should just be upped £15 or something so then all games come released with all DLC, Reason DLC exist is because of the pre owned market.

I bought the destiny season pass a month after release. My gripe is with announcing a season pass months before release. In my opinion they should announce dlc a month or so after release and let the game impress you first. I think they should also clearly state what will be included in each dlc Destiny is guilty of this as well.

I'll just do what i did with mordor, evil within, alien isolation and a few others - get the game, play for a bit and buy the season pass when its heavily reduced (50% or more). Usually thats when all the content is out (with the exception of evil within which was 50% off before ANY dlc was out for the SP!) doubt it will interfer with main game in any way so buying on sale after completing the game shouldn't change anything. Fed up with season passes though - just release a game and release more content about 6-12 months later, should be something to re-spark people to play the game, not something which makes people unable to sell for up to 6 months because they have to wait for all the dlc to come out or they have just wasted money on buying the season pass

80 per cent of games are guilty of this now , so get used to it, developers are raking it in , so it won't stop, destiny is guilty as well as hundreds of others

At least the content for this game will most likely be amazing to be fair.

yeah but if the content is the same as say Origins, then is that worth 32? a story mission thats about an hour, skins which you probably wont beable to use unless you cheat or complete the game and challenge maps which could have easily have been put in the game from day 1. if season passes were say 15 quid and covered all DLC planned then great, but most season passes don't even include all DLC content these days. Its a little silly when you can pick up the game for cheaper than the season pass after a few months yet you can't sell the content of the season pass when used. publishers know what they are doing - its just wrong.

Rocksteady didn't make Origins. That game was just a cash grab

I guess the simple answer is buy it and sell it - don't bother with the extra shite or wait till the retail copy is about £20 odd quid so it takes the sting out the DLC price.

or just wait for the GotY. or just wait till you can get everything for £5

I still cannot believe how good a deal the Mario Kart DLC the content was incredible and the cost was minimal. Now Batman I think we will all agree looks first rate but I'm with the majority here £33 for a season pass and 40 or even 50 if your stupid enough to pay that much for a game is just too much money, money, money!!! grab, grab, grab!!!

wont ever be 5 on consoles, only on pc and not for a very long time (about 18 months for a GOTY version to be reduced so heavily). I'll probably just pick up the game and buy 1 or 2 story based DLC - there is too much padding in the batman season passes lately. Nintendo seems to have got th prices right, MK8 and Hyrule warrious gave an amazing amount of content for a small amount - not even 1.4 of the price of the game yet offered about 50%-100% more content. these give about 20% more content while costing over 50% of the original game. Surprised nobody polices this

Arkham City GotY was available for £5 not too long after it released. Anyhoo it's not like we have a shortage of games in the meantime

More than enough titles to keep me going. Like you said waiting for GOTY edition will be a good choice. I'll be doing that anyway.

Complete reversal in my opinion of this game. I couldn't be less interested in this anymore. So many games I've been counting down the days to release day only to end up completely skipping it lately. Some really stupid business decisions being made in the industry lately. Gaming for the last 30 years I keep thinking maybe I'm just growing out of it because I'm buying fewer & fewer games but I still enjoy playing them as much as ever. Its just that the industry is being ruined by staticians that's only interest is to bleed it dry!

All the Batman games have been like this. You get DLC to play as characters that aren't Batman and also to give new storys. Asylum, City and Origins were still top games. You don't need the DLC at all to experience a fantastic game.

Just because they all do the DLC this way does that mean it is acceptable though?

Shut up Batman and just take my money
DynamiteWhyte's avatar

Why isn't it acceptable? They don't have to do extra content, they could just leave it as Batman. But people want extra content.
Turniplord's avatar
Turniplord 2 years ago
The issue isn't the content. It's the fact it is approx 75% the price of the game. Season passes started at 10-15 and now they are up to 40 quid (bf) which is ridiculous cobsidering the game will, hopefully, contain many more hours of fun and will be less than the season pass before all content is out. If it was 20-25 then fair enough. But this is silly. Hoping the batman remaster is 25 too (like most remastered are now) but I'm guessing it will be around 50
JoeToots's avatar
JoeToots 2 years ago
It's unacceptable because 9 times out of 10 the DLC has already been developed before the game even has do so I feel it should be released with the game.
Turniplord's avatar
Turniplord 2 years ago
and this ^ - gone are the days where developers would patch in missing content for free and now they just charge for a 100kb download to activate something they have already gave everyone in an update/patch. there are only 2 things that interest me about this SP and they will probably be about 8 quid each so i'll hae to wait until they are on sale (chances are the SP will be on sale before all the content is even out - as usual)
DynamiteWhyte's avatar
DynamiteWhyte 2 years ago
9 times out of 10 is innaccurate. Plus they need to make more money nowadays as games are the same price as they were when they cost less to make. They make things for people who want them afterwards and the extra work must be paid for. If you find it unacceptable and don't want it then don't buy it. Simple as that. You're not missing anything from the main game or storyline here with Batman.

I agree that DLC content is in the progress of being developed while the main game is being developed but It's not always possible to add into the game before it ships. Think of it as a production line. The closer the game is to going gold the more people who are just sitting on their backsides. DLC enables Writers,Artists & the rest to do something productive while the game is in the testing stages

It's just the pricing is WAY off here unless the DLC is the quality of a major expansion (Which I doubt) Also "New Missions" screams AC2 locked memory's to me
JoeToots's avatar

Don't worry I won't be buying it. I'll wait for the inevitable money grabbing GOTY edition.

Infact come to think of it it isn't money grabbing infact it's bettet value for money. Yup I'll deffo wait for that. This time next year I'll be able to pick it up on PC with all DLC for less than £20.

Yeah. If people think it's worth the price then fair enough but it isn't worth it to me, but then again I haven't played Arkham City
