Tuesday Chat: June 2

It's Tuesday, so is everyone having a good day so far?

We've been playing not a lot recently, though we do have a preview to write for tomorrow for Tembo the Badass Elephant, so look out for that soon.

So what are you up to?

Let's Chat!

ohhh, tembo - i've heard of that. was that the platformer you mentioned? I still have latest Game of Thrones to play and i'm gonna grab the ps plus games later if they go live. Need to go back and collect everything in order1886 then send it back (rental) so may have a go at that later if I get bored of side quests on the witcher

Hoping to play some Iron Banner tonight. Otherwise, I have a four for two voucher for pre-owned games at Game, so me and a few friends are going to nip into town this lunch and see if we can split the difference on games that have passed me by. Ideally looking for some big hitters like Mortal Kombat, but the price is off putting (if they even have in stock) so I may instead of for the likes of Hyrule Warriors. Any recommendations for me for games that have passed under the radar? Got PS4 and the Wii U

Hyrule Warriors still about 30-35 pre-owned isnt' it? Nintendo own games keep their prices. Its a good game though - with the dlc (about 12 quid) i've gone over about 500 hours on Hyrule Warriors. Deus Ex on Wii U is really good - using the pad to hack and leave notes and manage your inventory. PS4 wise, the remaster of Sleeping dogs is really good - about 60 hours on that completing it and sniper elite ultimate or zombie warriors trilogy are good in co-op

Oh, Zombie Trilogy, good shout. Been awhile since I bought anything pre-owned so not aware of how long games still retain their value.

My fav game of last year was shadows of mordor if you missed it! Also heard raving reports over dying light

My friend has Shadow of Mordor which I can borrow, and I'm loath to pick up a huge time consuming RPG when I still have FF Type-O to finish. Dying Light is a candidate.

i've got dying light on rental - made me smile when I say a bakery in the town called 'Left4Bread' - was funny. playing it makes me want dead island 2 to hurry up though!

Well that was a waste of time. The pre-owned games were literally £2 cheaper than full priced games and most were dearer than brand new from ShopTo! So the question is, ShopTo, will you accept this 4 for the price of 2 voucher I have from Game? ;-)

I remember a few years back taking a call of duty title to Game as I noticed the pre owned price was £2-3 difference as you say from full retail. I was then offered a laughable trade in sum to which I told them to stick it. I know it's all business's point to make profit but insulting potential customers was a joke. Don't fancy your chances getting rid of that voucher though ;-)

I get that they have larger overheads than online stores, but would it not make more fiscal sense to do away with the pre-owned section and fill it with something else? I know Amiibos are selling out across the country and yet they only have one stand with three available to choose from. But what do I know. And I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'll see if Joe wants to do a deal. I have a spare TV (with one dead pixel hence it's replacement yesterday) which I'm willing to let him "have" if this voucher is magically accepted ;-)

Still on Witcher, havn't plunged in as much time as I'd hoped. Only played about 15 hours, also will be getting my platinum on shovel knight today. Thinking on picking up Splatoon, really enjoyed the global test fire but I don't think I have the time :|

Might and Magic 7 closed beta going live tomorrow - only a week late :) Can't wait - love the series and cant wait for my collectors edition to arrive in Sept - Ubisoft do the best collectors editions (figures)

Ubisoft do the least Limited figures

what do you mean? Out of all the companies that give figures I think theirs are the most detailed - Got AC and HOMM on order, you get the SP with AC this time though which is good! with the move-around i'm doing I'm gonna put up a shelf just for the collectors stuff, at the moment they are just ona bookcase, got quite a few. Need to try and pick up some of the older ones cheap form cex as well I think

was thinking of buying splinter cell blacklist ltd edition - only 12 quid and you get the Graphic Novel and a 14 inch figure with it. they even buy the game back for 3 quid, so in theory it will only cost me 9 quid. which isn't bad

I mean how they sell the figures individually so they're not actually Limited

do they? Thought they were different ones? Don't remember seeing the Blackflag and Unity ones I have (chest and guillotine). Unless they just sell the excess stock :/ ah well, decent enough price to get on day one wit the game itself i guess. Tell you what I do like - my Alien colonial marines figure - cost 3 quid with game brand new and sealed. Then I have all my Nintendo ones including the star catalogue ones like Luigi Mansion 2 and the Mario gang together. Need to display them all properly. might sit down and re-design my living room when i'm off next week

Steam are now officially offering refunds for any game as long as you played less than 2 hours and you request it within 14 days of buying. So in theory, you can buy a game, then if a sale hits you can get the refund and re-buy at the lower price. People will obv abuse it. Also, i'm guessing this is bought on steam only - buying off other sites and getting a steam key (like greenman) wont be accepted in the refunds: http://kotaku.com/steam-is-now-offering-refunds-1708492000

Just realised - this is to get people to buy directly from Steam isn't it - so you have the 2 week/2hour refund policy. if you get the key for much cheaper elsewhere you are 'stuck' if it doesn't work or isn't good. I see what they are doing here - some people will like it - doesn't bother me much as 90% of the games I get on Steam these days are not bought directly through them unless in a heavy sale
