Game of Thrones Episode 4 Review

With a gap between episodes that lasted for what felt like an eternity the fourth episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones finally arrives, offering yet another exciting couple of hours with a now familiar cast.

Sons of Winter is yet another trademark adventure game / TV feature presented in the now familiar Telltale style, slowly weaving together a selection of characters from all walks of life on Westeros, from the handmaiden of a queen to a survivor of the Red Wedding, the player witnesses all of the excitement and double crossing whilst occasionally tapping the correct button to progress the story.

Being the fourth episode it is hard to give any real juicy details of the goings on without spoiling it so it is best left as it being yet another strong instalment with the House of Forrester still in serious trouble as Asher tries to build an army of sell-swords to assist his homestead, Mira Forrester playing a dangerous game within the castle walls as she desperately tries to get some form of help for her family, the returning and battle scarred Rodrick Forrester is trying to keep his family together whilst also plotting to save his kidnapped brother and Gared, who was exiled to the Wall but now finds himself heading for the North Grove in the wildlings land.

For those that have followed from the start it is really gripping stuff for its two hour play time, with plenty of moments that make you want to punch the air, smile and even brings goose bumps to your arms, quite impressive considering all it takes is a single press of the X button at the right time, again this is all thanks to the expert pacing and storytelling of the Telltale team.

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series: Episode Four is another strong interactive TV show and is still worthy of following the story to its conclusion, be you fans of the TV show not; let us just hope it is not another couple of months for the next episode.

Words by Ash Buchanan.
