EA E3 conference as it happened - Round Up

EA’s press conference was pretty highly anticipated and now it’s here.

Things kicked off in style thanks to Mass Effect Andromeda and although it was only CGI footage we are already excited. It's coming Holiday 2016 and hopefully we'll see more soon.

We were also told about three new experiences, Mirror's Edge and of course Star Wars, which includes new games for mobile and tablet.

Need for Speed was the first game shown and as you'd expect it included plenty of action, including police car chases and lots of speedy street racing.

The game is inspired by all the titles before it. The games features five world icons and it is your mission to gain their respect and become the best of all. Apparently you'll question whether it's real or in-game thanks to the Frostbyte engine. The game also features unprecedented customisation for the series.

Need for Speed is out November 3.

Star Wars The Old Republic was next up with a new Knight of the Fallen Empire expansion which goes back to the Bioware style of story telling. It's out this October and will be released for free to subscribers.

Next up was Unravel, a brand new game which looks pretty cute. It's a puzzle game where you play as a little character who unravels as you play. You'll use it yarn to find a way forward and solve the issues you'll find along the way.

Check it out below.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 was the next game to be shown. We all know about the first title and now the second is even bigger.

We were shown some Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 gameplay on a brand new map with a brand new gameplay mode known as Graveyard Ops. This is a four player mode where we saw a small imp zombie speeding along the level, boost and shooting at everything in his path.

There was also SuperBrainz, a new melee class who was dressed as a superhero. CaptainDeadbeard meanwhile is the zombies first sniper class. There's also plenty of new weapons, which is handy because there are some huge enemies. In the instance of this demo we saw the imp change into an armoured version of himself, complete with a turret for an arm, which was interesting. There is also a new single player and co-op mode. You can also transfer your characters if you own the first game.

It's coming Spring 2016 and will come with free content updates.

NHL 2016 was the next game to take to the stage, showing brand new gameplay and plenty of on ice action. It may not be a popular game in the UK, however there are those who'll be interested in the all new EA Sports Hockey league which is included within the game.

Rory Maclroy PGA Tour was also shown off and although EA didn't spend a lot of time on it, we're sure golf fans will love it. Madden was next along with NBA Live. The latter includes a game HD camera, which is an accurate way of putting your own face in the game. It looked like it worked well, although we'll find our for ourselves when we get around to trying it out.

EA explained a lot of detail about NBA, such as moves like the bread and roll, which just resulted in making us hungry more than anything else, but we're sure someone, somewhere will understand the terminology.

EA says it want to help people with its new gameplay innovations for NHL, FIFA and NHL. Speaking of which, here's a FIFA 16 gameplay trailer.

The game itself started with Pele coming onto the stage, which seems as good a way as any to promote your new football game.

Finally we got to see some gameplay and also got told the usual FIFA keywords such as 'more moments of magic,' 'controlling the defence,' and 'no touch dribbling.' Apparently EA is innovating across the entire pitch. As you play controller options will pop up to help you get better at the game.

Women's Teams are also in the game, but then we already knew that right?

Mirror's Edge Catalyst was the next game to be shown, allowing is to see some gameplay as well as learn that it'll be completely open, with no loading and plenty of freedom.

It's our February 2016 and you can check it out below.

Madden 16 was next up, you can find out all you need to know about that in this trailer.

We all want to know about Star Wars Battlefront and the trailer leaked early, allowing us to see the multiplayer as below.

You can fly Xwings and dogfight tie-fighters, although not in space. As you can see, you can also wield lightsabers and all manner of authentic weapons. There are plenty of game modes too and if you don't feel like multiplayer then you can always take on some bots, since there is no campaign as such.

Star Wars Battlefront is out November 17.

Here's the trailer.

That's it. What did you think?
