Street Fighter V will get future content without the need to upgrade version

Street Fighter 4 saw multiple physical releases throughout the last generation of consoles, with each version adding new characters and tweaks, however this won't be the case for Street Fighter V, as any future updates will be downloadable, meaning that the original disc/download is all that you'll need.

Director of brand marketing and eSports, Matt Dahlgren confirmed the news in an interview with eventhubs.

"This is the only disc you're ever going to need to own to get all of the content in the game, but we'll be revealing details of how our post-launch content happens at a later date, but it will be good news," he said.

"We want to start off with a core roster which will be inviting to new players. When you start off with a gigantic roster right off the bat, it can be pretty daunting for new players to figure out where to start," he explained, before teasing brand new characters coming to Street Fighter. "Very soon in the future, you will see brand new characters for the franchise."

Dahlgren also confirmed that Capcom will be sharing details of the in campaign "at a later date."

A PS4-exclusive online beta launches for Street Fighter 5 on July 23 and Street Fighter 5 launches on PS4 and PC in 2016.

Will this be gratis content that one should get automatically with a scrapper such as costumes, backgrounds and additional characters?! It's ridiculous to shell out extra for fighters and costumes which should be essentially part of a fighting game at prices which could get you Monster Hunter Ultimate 4 (a perfectly good game in its own right), Shin Megami Tensei X and J Stars Victory Vs + all in the one spend through ShopTo ;)!

'A gigantic roster' 'daunting'?!! I have never heard such claptrap!! I have only ever enjoyed SNK scrappers which contained a MAMMOTH array of fighters straight-off-the-bat!! Seems like lame excuses and posturing, if you were to ask me! Also, it would seem like another 'broken game' to be launched on the public before it's properly stitched together.

Read a lot of hands on impressions from E3 on the game and reports for it have been glowing so far. Sounds like it's going to be the go-to fighter this gen just like SF4 was last gen. Looking forward to playing it on my PS4... gonna be so good :)
