U.S Charts, July: PS4 is top selling console; Warner is top publisher

PS4 continues to dominate in the U.S, winning the console sales war once again in July, although that's not to say that Xbox One still isn't performing well.

“After 21 months, combined Xbox One and PS4 hardware unit sales are close to 50% higher than the combined sales of Xbox 360 and PS3 after 21 months on the market,” said NPD analyst Liam Callahan.

"U.S.A, U.S.A."

The PS4 led hardware sales, with the Batman: Arkham Knight bundle performing well for Sony. Microsoft said Xbox One sales increased 44% year-on-year and active global Xbox Live users jumped 22% compared to this time last year, so it's certainly not feeling on the depressed side. Nintendo meanwhile highlighted a sales increase on Wii U and 3DS.

On the software side, PS4 and Xbox One sales grew 63%, although overall software sales for all consoles combined barely grew at all.

The top selling software came from Warner Bros and although Batman: Arkham Knight fell to second place in the charts, the hardware bundles it would have been the top seller if they were included. Oh and LEGO: Jurassic World, also a Warner Bros. game, was number one, as was third placed entry, Mortal Kombat X.

Here's the software chart
