Pokemon Go announced for Mobile

During a Live Stream taking place this morning, The Pokemon Company announced a new smartphone title called Pokémon Go.

The game will be developed by Niantic Inc, a company that started up within Google but recently became an independent company. The team will work with The Pokemon Company in the development of the game, as well as Nintendo.

Pokemon Go will release in 2016 for Android and iPhone and will use real world maps, with Pokemon roaming free in the real world, allowing you to catch them wherever you go in the world.

In addition to the above, Pokemon Go Plus was announced. It looks like a wristwatch and basically vibrates when there is a pokemon nearby for you to catch, although it can also clip on to your shirt if you like. It has been developed in conjunction with Nintendo.

That looks like a lot of fun but I fear for people living outside of big cities, such as New York, there will be little point in playing.
