US Charts: September, PS4 and Sports games proving popular

PS4 was once again the top selling hardware in the U.S last month, helped in part by the popularity of the latest sports games.

NBA2K16, Madden 16 and FIFA 16 all proved popular, although sandwiched in between them was Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which also performed pretty well.

While the PS4 was the best-selling console, it was also the bestselling platform for NBA 2K16, Madden 16, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and FIFA 16. Sony also added that PS4 was the bestselling platform for Destiny: The Taken King when hardware bundles are included, although NPD does not count software packed in with hardware in its results.

Despite a decline on hardware sales year on year, NPD’s Liam Callahan said, "After 23 months on the market, combined PS4 and Xbox One sales are 40% higher than the combined 23 month totals for PS3 and 360."

Hardware sales are also on the rise, so October and specifically November should prove popular months for sales of both consoles.

Here's the top 10 software for September
