Microsoft to announce backwards compatibility list on November 9

Microsoft will reveal the full list of Xbox 360 games playable on the Xbox One on November 9, according to new information via Twitter.

It's known that around 100 games will be compatible, although how many people will actually make use of the feature remains to be seen.

The original PlayStation 3 was also backwards compatible, however due to lack of use the feature was eventually removed in later versions of the console. Will Xbox One owners appreciated backwards compatibility more? Is it something you will make use of? Let us know below.

Pointless really, if i cant put a 360 game in the drive and play - it's pointless. This is just another Microsoft money grab. Shame really they could of boosted sales of the xbox one with this. Maybe even matched the ps4 sales.

Backwards compatibility is something you think you want but won't actually use I hope mass effect trilogy is on there though could do with playing that again

As already mentioned you think you'll use it but you won't really bother - maybe odd one or two. On the first batch of ps3's I used ps2 backwards for a small handful of games and on the Wii about 3 gamecube games. Just keep the old sysytem if you want to play Xbox 360 games.

@Michael, you can put the 360 disc in the Drive and play, I am playing Mass Effect right now in preview and that's how it works. pop the disc in, install and play or if you have it as a digital copy it just installs. They have to ask the dev's for licensing reasons as it works as a form of emulation.

I think this was 'a thing' when there weren't that many games for the new consoles - if this and ps now were announced a few years back then great, would, have made sense, but now, there is a library of about 300+ games on the PS4 (dunno, about the Xbox one) so plenty to play. If a lot of people don't use it then MS won't bother paying to licence more games after this initial 100. Plus, if they see more people want to play 360 games rather than native Xbox one games then surely they should try and rectify That? They need to let the PS3 and Xbox 360 die now, at least most major developers have done so
