Sky App is coming soon to Xbox One

Microsoft has said that Xbox One owners will soon get the Sky App on their console.

The app has been on PS4 for a while now, although was delayed on Xbox One for one reason or another. The good news is that UK Xbox marketing chief Harvey Eagle told Eurogamer the app is in development now for Xbox One and "coming soon."

Sky's TV app proved popular on Xbox 360, so it seemed odd that it was missing from Xbox One, especially since PlayStation 4 has had a Sky TV app since December 2014.

On PS4 the Sky TV app requires a £5 Sky Go Extra subscription on top of your existing Sky subscription, it'll likely be the same on Xbox One, although you'll need a Xbox LIVE Gold membership to access it.

This is great news and will be a welcome return. And it should be behind a paywall why should freeloaders get stuff the rest of us pay for

Its going to xbox not sky. Xbox run most things through live which is the way it should be. Who the hell doesnt have gold anyway? why have you even got an xbox ?? It all goes to keeping the great servers up and running. PS gives you it for free but look at the online service they offer, if you dont like it the soloution is to go elsewhere

The point I was trying to make, which has been discussed on the 360 as well, is that you are paying sky for their service but you also need to be paying Microsoft for good to use the sky app. Even though that service is nothing to do with gold. So if you have a few people using the machine then you have to be on an account with gold active to be able to use the features you are paying for outside of gold. Always confused me as to why they do that
