BioShock is 'unquestionably a permanent franchise,' says Strauss Zelnick

Those hoping for a return of the Bioshock series will be pleased to know that it has been described as a "permanent franchise” by 2K Games.

“The franchise is in the hands of 2K,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said last week, as reported by Gamespot.

“They’ll make announcements in due time about any upcoming releases. But BioShock is unquestionably a permanent franchise for our company and one that we do believe in.”

Bioshock developer Irrational Games was shut down by 2K Games following the release of the last title, although studio head Ken Levine stayed and created a brand new studio with a smaller number of staff. Whether or not that studio is working on a new Bioshock title or not remains to be seen.

In any case, it's good news that the franchise is still alive, especially since we enjoyed Bioshock Infinite so much.

I recon they will bring out a 1-3 collection at some point next year - they know that if they do people will buy it - just look at the Borderlands re-masters. I woudn't mind playing the original again

Never got round to playing one. A remastered collection would be tempting

They better make a remaster love bioshock and mass effect and they're probably the only franchises they haven't made a remaster for at this point lol
