A year of free games: How PS Plus and Games with Gold compare

There is no doubt that Sony started something which fans loved when it introduced PlayStation Plus. It was the chance to build a library of games for a small yearly cost, and it's a service appreciated by many. So popular did PlayStation Plus become that both Microsoft and to a lesser extent, EA, decided to make their own versions.

When PlayStation Plus first started out it was all about the free games, special discounts and other perks. Now of course, it is a requirement if you want to play online, whereas Xbox LIVE with Gold, which is Microsoft's alternative, is an additional bonus to the always required Xbox LIVE service.

What's great about paying for both of these services is the free games. Sure, they may not always appeal to everyone each month, but when you take a look at the games released this year alone, it's hard not to appreciate the value on offer.

Below we have listed the games released this year for both Xbox One and PS4, including those cross-buy and backwards compatible titles which work on these consoles. What we haven't taken into account is the other free titles also released for these services, such as those on PS3, PS Vita and Xbox 360, as well as the other perks of signing up to PlayStation Plus and Xbox LIVE.

Even with not taking the other perks into consideration, it's clear that there have been a lot of great games released on these services throughout the year. Below you can see what you should have in your library for both services if you are a member and what you've missed out on if you are not.

So what do you think? We'd love to know your thoughts on PS Plus and Xbox LIVE's Games with Gold and if you think they are worth the yearly fee. We think it's been a great 2015 for these services, so what about you?

PS4 had a few more than the Xbox it seems. Are all xbox 360 G4G games BC or just the ones they release from now on? If only going forward will they be new ones added to the list or just the 104 they announced?

I don't really see the value in Games with Gold for me personally as I generally just buy a game that I'm intrested in on release, So far I haven't actually enjoyed any game on games with gold that I didn't already own or played prior and what all most all the games I have no intrest in otherwise I would of just bought em on release, I am aware that most of the games I enjoy are AAA multi million dollar games and I don't really like indie games after part a few such as Telertales TWD which shock horror I played on release.
