It sounds like Sonic is getting a new game for his 25th birthday

Sonic The hedgehog is 25 this year and SEGA has shown off the anniversary logo. The game originally released in 1991 and it could be that we'll see a new Sonic game released this year to coincide with his birthday.

News of this comes via the lead singer of Crush 40, a band that provided music for the series since the late 1990s. Apparently the band will be providing some music for the new game.

"We are planning a few performances for 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of Sonic," Gioeli wrote on his Facebook page (now removed). "We might participate in writing new songs for the anniversary game... stay tuned..."

So there we go, it seems the cat is out of the bag, watch this space.

I'd love a game with no homing missile attacks or boost bars. Just traditional Sonic maybe with HD levels from the first four games and lots of additional new levels. Mix them up and they could be onto a winner
