The PlayStation 4 has now sold 35.9 million units worldwide according to a Sony press release.
Last we heard, which was around Black Friday last year, when the console had sold 30.2 million, so that's a whole lot of consoles sold since the end of November 2015. The figure mentioned is for consoles sold to consumers up to January 3.
It's not just hardware that is impressing, for instance, PlayStation Plus subs are up 60 per cent year-over-year and software sales are also strong, with the company selling 35 million software units at retail and digitally combined during the same period of November 22 - January 3.
"We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences," group CEO Andrew House said in the statement, adding that the platform holder will deliver an "unprecedented games portfolio" in 2016.
