New Rumour suggests that Assassin's Creed will release this year

Rumours, you have to love them and while we generally ignore most of them, news that Assassin's Creed could release this year has us paying attention.

According to a new rumour via Jeuxactu, there will indeed be a new Assassin's Creed game this year and it will once again be set in Italy or Ancient Rome to be more precise.

The site's source, which it claims is a developer from Ubisoft Montreal, suggests that the game will take place between 68 and 49 BC with key moments, such as the fall of the Seleucid Empire, the assassination of Aretas III and the Battle of Pistoia. The hero meanwhile, will be Marcus Junius Brutus would will visit several Italian cities, including Rome.

On the gameplay side, horses and sea battles will make their comeback and apparently the sea battles will be the best seen yet and much improved from Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.

"To date, this is our most ambitious project and I can promise you've never seen anything so amazing elsewhere," says the source.

"This is a totally different game."

Of course the above is complete rumour, as is the previous story which suggests there will be no Assassin's Creed this year and the next one will be set in Ancient Egypt.

So there we go. What direction would you like to see the series go in?

I am liking that if rumours prove true, we will get to see Ancient Egypt/Rome. I am actually glad that they decided to go much further back, instead of forward.

Another rumour to counter the other. Either ubisoft wants to debunk the other because it's wrong or right or someone is just Stirring it. I've never liked rumours, it's like all those sites that post "ps plus next month predictions" and just has a load of crappy guesses at what's gonna be on it - just wait and find out officially :) I would be surprised if an assassins creed doesn't come out, maybe by a different dev, like how cod does it.

Plus, I thought the main assassin creed games were progressing to modern then future times as they have all been mainly in order so far. If it goes back and it's a main game it will lose the continuity.
